Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 753

Who would have guessed that when Everett turned around, he'd see Mateo holding Haley's hand, both of them watching him intently. Their eyes said it all—disappointment written all over their little faces. It was like they were silently scolding him, “Really, Dad? You upset Mom again?”

Everett just stood there, speechless. His pride as a father crumbled into pieces. Still, before heading out, he managed to mumble to the kids, “You two... go cheer up your mom.”

...

That night, Mateo and Haley crawled into bed with their mom, snuggling up on either side of her. Selena wrapped her arms around her kids, feeling some of the weight lift off her heart. No matter how bad things got, as long as she had her little ones, she could get through anything.

The next morning, Holt showed up with Jason's termination papers, urging Selena to sign them. But Selena, taking her time, finished breakfast with her kids before inviting Holt into the study. She grabbed the contract, barely glanced at it, and tossed it aside without signing.

Holt, puzzled, asked, “Miss, what does this mean?”

“It means there's no rush to sign this right now.”

Holt was momentarily stunned, then a grin spread across his face. “Miss, does this mean... your ex agreed to help out?”

She had noticed Everett's car parked outside the day before.

“No,” Selena replied, not wanting to dwell on Everett, “I need you to dig into Abraham's schedule. Get me all the details, as soon as possible.”

Abraham, Joy's brother, the rising star and future big shot!

Holt quickly pieced together Selena's plan, though she couldn't help but worry. “Miss, are you really thinking of going to Abraham? Do you really think he’ll help us?”

It seemed like a dead end.

In the end, she might have to give in to Joy's demands, pack up her kids, and leave Northtown for good.

But Selena waved off Holt’s concerns. “We can’t not try just because the outcome might be bad. If we do nothing, we’ve got zero chance. Enough talk. Get investigating.”

Holt worked swiftly and soon discovered that Abraham would be attending a private party in five days.

...

That evening, Selena dressed to impress and made her way to the party. It was an intimate gathering, and the ballroom wasn't too big. She immediately spotted Abraham at the center, surrounded by folks eager to win his favor.
