Where'd she run off to now?
Even though he didn't know for sure, it probably wasn't anything good. Honestly, with the number of times Selena had gotten under his skin, he should've just let it go.
But no, his head was spinning with all sorts of wild guesses, unable to concentrate on anything else. Finally, he rubbed his temples, trying to shake it off.
"Alright folks, let's wrap it up. Meeting's over."
With that, he snatched his coat and car keys and made a beeline for the door.
"Mr. Everett, where are you headed?" Alex asked, surprised.
"Picking someone up!" he replied, teeth clenched, still marching on. He also told Alex to quickly find out where Selena had wandered off to and what trouble she was getting into tonight.
In the underground garage, he yanked open the car door, tossed his coat inside, and slid into the driver's seat. The engine roared to life, and he floored it, zooming out of there.
Soon enough, Alex sent him Selena's location.
One glance, and Everett got the picture.
Selena had chosen not to ask him for help and instead went to see Joy's brother, Abraham.
Everyone knew Abraham doted on his sister, so of course, he’d make things tough for Selena.
That woman was so naive!
What should've been over an hour's drive, Everett managed in just forty minutes, screeching to a halt at the entrance. He jumped out and strode into the hotel.
Luckily, when he found Selena, she was sitting on the floor, hugging her knees. Apart from looking a bit out of it, her clothes were intact, and she wasn't hurt.
