Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 803

As she spoke, she tried to restart the car, but her movements were so sluggish, it was like she was operating in slow motion. Everett, too drained to confront her, simply opened the car door and stepped out.

At that moment, Alex, worried he might change his mind and come back, quickly revved the engine and sped off, calling out, "Mr. Everett, I'll swing by to pick you up tomorrow!"

With a quick press on the gas pedal, the car shot off like a comet, vanishing into the night.

Everett glanced up at the second-floor master bedroom window, noticing the light had already been turned off. The frustration inside him intensified just a bit more. With long strides, he headed inside.

Once in the house, he moved upstairs to the bedroom, only to find it empty. He then turned toward the children's room and paused at the door.

Inside, the room was softly lit, and Selena was sitting on the bed with Mateo and Haley snuggled up on either side of her, reading a story aloud. Her voice had a natural warmth to it, a quality no imitation could ever replicate.

Everett's dark eyes settled on Selena's fair and lovely face, but he chose not to interrupt, turning back toward the master bedroom.

After tucking the kids in and giving each a gentle kiss on the cheek, Selena quietly left their room. As she entered the bedroom, she saw Everett half-reclined on her bed, his long legs stretched out, and one hand resting on his forehead, with a slight flush on his cheeks.

As she approached, she caught a faint whiff of alcohol. He'd been drinking, and quite a lot, by the smell of it.

Selena remained composed, calmly folding the napkin and putting it back in his suit pocket, even managing a smile. "You get headaches when you drink too much. I'll whip up some hangover soup for you."

With that, she began to get up to leave.

Everett's expression darkened, his stormy eyes filled with brewing anger as he forcefully grabbed Selena's wrist, pulling her back onto the bed. Before she could react, he had her pinned down, gripping her chin so tightly it felt like her bones might crack.

His voice was harsh and demanding, "Selena, I didn't come here for some damn hangover soup. Don’t you have anything else to say to me?"
