Video? What video?
Selena was momentarily confused, but then it hit her.
Behind her, the big projector screen had swapped from the voting page to that infamous video.
In the clip, Everett stepped out of the lounge first. After a pause, Selena followed, looking disheveled with her clothes askew and conspicuous love bites on her neck. Alone with a man in a room, you can guess the rest.
Then Joy confronted Selena, and things got heated. With a dark expression, Selena grabbed Joy's hair and slammed her against the wall, leaving Joy crumpled on the floor.
The video was brief, but it packed a punch.
And with the sound muted, leaving just the visuals, the room buzzed with whispers and wild guesses.
Classmate 1: "Whoa, what's happening here? Weren't Selena and Joy besties? How did it get so ugly? And Selena's always been so gentle; how's she throwing punches now?"
Classmate 2: "Do you even need to ask? It's all there in the video. Everyone knows Bennett Corporation and Kesler International are merging. Joy's Mr. Everett's fiancée, yet he's still messing around with his ex-wife right under her nose. Gross!"
Classmate 3: "Seriously? I just said Selena was beautiful and sweet, but behind the scenes, she's like this? Where's she getting her money from, anyway? Probably from seducing other people's husbands!"
Classmate 4: "I don't think Mr. Everett's at fault here. If he really liked Selena, he wouldn't have divorced her and picked Joy. Selena probably can't handle being dumped, so she used her charms to lure Mr. Everett, only to get caught by Joy. And then she flipped and attacked Joy. Joy's the real victim. Selena, with her lack of morals, doesn't belong at this school. She might corrupt the younger students!"
But there were a few level-headed students who weren't so quick to judge, knowing that looks can be deceiving and it's better to wait for the dust to settle.
These harsh words naturally reached Selena’s ears.
