As Everett drove, he caught snippets of the chaos unfolding through a live stream. But being there in person, seeing Selena cornered and distressed, felt like someone was tearing his heart apart, each beat echoing with the sound of it breaking. Whether it was the lingering effects of Dr. Stone’s hypnosis or just his emotions breaking free, he didn’t know. All he knew was he wanted to tear the world apart to fix this.
Everett's face was set like stone, his presence commanding as he made his way toward the stage with purpose. The crowd was dense, but not a soul dared to block his path. They instinctively parted, making way for him without the need for any bodyguards.
The room fell into an eerie hush, the kind where you could hear a pin drop. As soon as Joy spotted Everett, panic flared in her eyes. She hadn’t expected him to show up now. She had paid Dr. Stone good money to ensure Everett would be out cold for 48 hours, giving her ample time to dismantle Selena’s world. What went wrong?
Regaining her composure quickly, Joy convinced herself there was no need to worry. Everett's arrival didn’t necessarily mean he was there to save Selena. After all, Dr. Stone’s hypnosis had rewritten his affections, swapping Selena out for her. His early awakening just proved it worked. Surely, she was the one in his heart now.
With renewed confidence, Joy picked herself up. As Everett stepped onto the stage, she rushed to him, wrapping herself around him pitifully. Her arms encircled his trim waist and she nestled her cheek against his solid chest, savoring the cool scent of his cologne.
"Everett, did you come to rescue me? Don’t fret, I’m okay, those slaps didn’t really hurt," she said softly. "Selena just lost it because she’s crazy about you. We’ve been like sisters, so I’m not holding a grudge. Let’s just call it a day."
