Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 844

Dr. Stone's hair was a mess, and her face was a cocktail of shame and panic. As a well-known psychologist, she valued her reputation above all. It was especially awkward because she had just been invited to give a psychology lecture to the students here. To be caught in such an embarrassing situation was mortifying—she wished the floor would just open up and swallow her whole.

She tried to get away, but she was no match for the towering, muscular Bill. With just one hand on the back of her neck, he had her pinned and unable to move.

A few students recognized Dr. Stone and blurted out, "Isn't that Professor Lewis? What’s she doing here?"

"Yeah, what’s up with that?"

"Why does she look so out of sorts? Did Mr. Everett do something to her?"

Joy's eyes landed on Dr. Stone's face, just as stunned. So... Everett waking up early wasn't what she thought; had her and Dr. Stone's plan gone south?

Sure enough, Everett's deep, smooth voice cut through the large auditorium via the microphone. "This is the renowned psychologist Dr. Stone, also Selena's main therapist. She had all of Selena's medical records but chose to sell those for a hefty sum to Joy, betraying her professional ethics."

The crowd was floored. Dr. Stone was a big name in the medical world. Would she really risk her career like that?

Some couldn't believe it, while others wondered if it was true. Or maybe she was just under Everett's thumb, forced to point fingers at Joy?

Joy nestled her face in her assistant's shoulder, a slight smile creeping onto her lips. She knew she might not be able to tackle Selena now, but as long as she could protect herself, there was plenty of time ahead. She couldn't believe Selena’s luck would hold out forever!

They'd be stuck in this conflict for the long haul.

The students demanded an explanation from Everett. Even if he was Newport's richest, this wasn’t just his stage.

Everett scanned the crowd, his striking face as calm as ever, as if he had seen all this coming. A faint smile played at the corners of his mouth.
