Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire novel Chapter 847

As Joy strolled past Selena, she came to a halt. Turning to face Selena, who had been quiet throughout, Joy's sharp instincts caught onto something, and she suddenly broke into a wide grin.

"Selena, our little feud isn't over just yet," she said with a playful challenge. "Don't think you've won. As long as I'm around, let's see who gets the last laugh!"

Selena's gaze shot up, her eyes, once lost and confused, now clouded with a stormy intensity. Joy smirked and walked away, leaving the scene.

The drama wrapped up, but it stayed fresh in everyone's minds—it was just too gripping to forget. Yet, the scars left on Selena's heart were very much real.

On the drive back, Selena sat in silence, her face a blank slate, not saying a word. It was like she was stuck in her own world with no way out.

Everett pulled her close, wrapping her in his arms. She let him hold her, but no matter what he said, she didn't seem to hear, not giving any hint of a reaction.

Even when they reached Pine Haven, and Mateo and Haley rushed over to hug their mom, calling out to her, she stood still, unresponsive, like a statue.

At home, Ava had watched it all unfold on a live stream. Her tears flowed freely as she looked at Selena, unable to hold them back.

Her heart ached for her.

Selena had always treated Joy with genuine kindness, their years together making them almost like family. Even when Joy subtly tried to stir things up between her and her husband, Selena never doubted her.

For someone so deeply loyal to be betrayed like this by Joy, it was enough to break anyone's heart.

Wiping her tears, Ava turned to Everett, "Sir, what are we going to do? Is she... is her depression getting worse?"

Even in her toughest times, Selena had never been like this—not speaking, not reacting at all.

Alex and Holt, who had come in with them, were just as worried. Holt, especially, felt guilty for not being strong enough to protect her.

If the big boss found out, he'd be beside himself with worry.

Only then did Everett nod, leaning down to kiss Selena's forehead before stepping out of the room with Callum.

He stayed close, just outside the door.

He pulled out a cigarette, lighting it up, his hands shaking as he took a drag.

Trying to steady himself.

Callum glanced at him, holding back any scolding words.

Time stretched on, or maybe it was just a moment, before Flynn emerged from the room.

Everett's voice was low and intense, "How is she?"
