Everett sat quietly, eyes shut as if catching some shut-eye. Alex, not getting a word out of him, knew deep down what was on his mind. She sighed to herself and turned to the driver. "Let's head back to Lakeside Mansion." The car cruised slowly into the evening's embrace.

The next morning rolled around. After breakfast with the kids, Selena asked Ava to drop Mateo off at school. She hopped into the car and turned to Holt with new plans. "We're skipping Irwin Enterprises today. Let's make our way to Bennett Corporation instead."
Holt had shown up earlier that morning and noticed Everett's absence, piecing together the puzzle. If Mr. Everett had unwavering trust in Selena, he would've been there the moment he was free. The fact that he wasn't meant there was still some misunderstanding afoot.
"How can someone as sharp as Mr. Everett be so dense when it comes to love?" Holt grumbled, unable to help himself. Could it be that with all the gifts the universe had bestowed on him, love was the one area he was left in the dark?
Selena chuckled lightly. "It's not that he doesn't get it. He understands; it's just the emotional part that's hard for him to swallow."
She figured that when Everett broke free yesterday, the truth must have dawned on him. He knew she hadn't really betrayed him, but she'd chosen to face things solo, not leaning on him. For Everett, that might've felt like another form of betrayal.
He was all about her, yet she had shut him out of her life. Holt, having dabbled in a few lukewarm relationships, couldn't really wrap his head around such intense, messy love.
Selena smiled knowingly, "That just means you haven't met the one who makes your heart burst with joy at the sight of them."
A few days back, the place was barely half-full when they called a meeting. Now, everyone was here, punctual and all, probably eager to see her stumble.
After all, Everett had made a grand comeback!
