Bailey's pov
Three days later and let's just say Kaleb and I were acting like strangers. When he would see me in the hall he'd turn the other way and I'd do the same.
I will admit it hurt me, but wasn't that what I wanted? For everything to be back to normal?
Yet even though I thought of this, my heart pang with every silent glare he sent me before turning away. Even Mira noticed the tension between us and asked me yesterday what was up.
I lied and said that I found out he got a higher mark in biology than me. Mira who knew how Kaleb and I competed for the best score ate up that lie.
I didn't really enjoy lying to her, and hated that I had to protect our friendship.
" Hey guys," Katrina said, swinging her legs over the chair for her to plop down. She takes out a sandwich in her bag and starts to munch on it happily.
She had been in an uplifting spirit since morning. We asked her and she confessed her parents were working it out and for the first time in a few weeks her mom and dad laughed at each other jokes.
This was the best news we got this morning.
" Miss happy is all giddy," Mira smiled brightly, reaching over and pinching Katrina's cheeks. Katrina flushed, her eyes darting over across the room.
I looked in the direction of her gaze, my eyebrows lifting in surprise when I saw Luther, a quiet guy in our grade looking over at her shyly.
Mira also noticed her line of vision and her mouth parts. " Wait." Mira looks over at me. " Are you seeing what I am seeing here Bails?"
I nod, grinning. " Oh I'm seeing alright."
Katrina's face reddened even more and she slapped Mira's hand away from her cheek. " You two aren't seeing anything other than your asses."
I lifted a brow. " I don't know, it looked to me that you and Luther over there was sending some lovey dovey eyes."
Katrina puffed out her cheeks and pretended to be casual. " Well you saw wrong."
Mira and I looked at each other in amusement. " Does our little Katrina have a crush?" Mira sang lowly which cause Katrina's cheeks to flush even more.
I giggled, throwing my palm over my lips to stifle my laugh. Mira does the same but the chortles still slipped from hers.
"Guys," Katrina whined, her eyes falling on the table as she played with her sandwich. " I do not have a crush on anyone."
Mira snorted. " Right."
We talked for a bit more and after a few, Mira brought up the football game tomorrow.
