The dishes were delivered by the hotel last night, and before coming here this morning, Vivian had carefully reheated them so that Manfred could enjoy hot, freshly prepared food.
She had packed everything in thermal bags, ensuring the meals stayed warm even after she had tended to Manfred's wounds. Manfred, who appreciated a good meal, savored every bite.
Before long, the two of them had finished all the food. Vivian then pulled out another bag, which contained several self-heating meals.
"I'll show you how to make these. For the next few days, even if you're stuck in this storage shed, you can still have hot meals whenever you like." Vivian proudly presented the self-heating meals, almost as if unveiling a rare treasure.
She opened one of the packages, revealing its contents. The unfamiliar items might have seemed mysterious to an outsider, and they would never have guessed they contained edibles.
The food was mild and free of spices, carefully chosen to avoid irritating Manfred's wounds.
Manfred quickly caught on. A brief explanation from Vivian on how to make the meals was all he needed to remember the steps effortlessly.
Vivian added, "I also brought you two books. You can read them in the next couple of days. "
Her preparations were meticulous. The maid had mentioned that unless Manfred knelt and apologized, he would remain locked in this storage shed for at least a few more days.
Their intent was clear—they aimed to break him down mentally and physically.
Vivian's anger flared at the thought of those tormenting Manfred. She would make sure they paid for their cruelty if she ever met them.
Manfred felt warmth in his chest. He could clearly see Vivian's intentions—to make him as comfortable as possible during his confinement.
"Thank you," he said softly.
Vivian smiled. "No need to thank me."
They chatted for a while longer. Manfred was curious about the world Vivian came from, so she happily shared stories about modern life. To him, her descriptions painted a picture of a paradise, a world so vastly different from his own.

More chapters please...
Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
