”Cough, cough cough…” Willow choked on the water.
The waitress was clearly looking at him, so how could he interpret that as envy?
On second thought, it made sense. Jasper was charming and handsome, but he had Willow as a companion.
People would assume they were dating since they were having coffee together.
People date with the intent to marry.
However, this would never end in marriage for her.
Would anyone still envy her if they found out that she was being kept?
They would only laugh at her.
Willow held onto her cup. She kept quiet and pretended to drink water to conceal her embarrassment.
Their coffee was soon served.
By the time they finished their coffee, it was already two in the morning.
Jasper sent Willow back to her apartment building.
To prevent Jasper from seeing her to her door, she said, “Mr. Hughes, it’s late and I’m really tired so I’ll be going now. You should hurry back too.”
Then, she covered her mouth to yawn.
She was truly exhausted.
“Yeah, you should hurry upstairs,” Jasper said. This time, he didn’t insist on seeing her to the door.
Feeling lucky, Willow turned and hurried upstairs.
Jasper waited downstairs until he saw the lights of Willow’s unit turn on. Then, he got into his car and drove off.
To hold hands, drink coffee, and have idle chit-chat. So this was what dating was like.
It sounded boring but also interesting…
