Willow panicked and tried to push the door open. "Open the door. Let go of my mom!"
She did not expect her mother to encounter something like this.
While Willow panicked, Jasper stepped forward and pulled her aside. He then took one step back before kicking the door with force.
The door was instantly kicked open.
Jasper stormed inside, and Willow followed him.
By then, George had heard the commotion. Due to the interruption, he let go of Lara and turned around. Before he could even see who was there, his face was met with a punch.
George stumbled several steps backward from the punch. He covered his face and looked up angrily. He was about to start yelling when he saw the man before him.
This man was tall, handsome, and had an innate aura of power. His gaze was terrifiyngly cold.
George instantly recognized who he was.
His fierce expression turned into that of feeling sorry in a split second.
"Mr. Hughes, she used to be my girlfriend many years ago. She was pregnant back then, and we were already talking about getting married. Who would've guessed she'd suddenly decided against the marriage. She even had my child. I knew I had a daughter. I was too excited when I saw her. I thought she still loved me. I want her back… It's not what you think you saw." George started explaining to Jasper.
Lara immediately became angry and wanted to stand her ground.
Willow held her back and convinced her not to act rashly.
Lara would not back down, and she yelled through clenched jaws. "You bastard! You're making it all up. Was I the one who regretted the decision? Ptooey! You jerk!"
George now behaved like a gentleman. He did not argue despite Lara's insults. In fact, he sounded gentle. "Lara, we've been arguing for so many years. Can we stop arguing?"
Argue?
This was a trigger word for Jasper.
He began having flashbacks of his childhood.
