Chapter 0270
#25 BONUS
Marcus Bartz landed at Kloten Airport in Switzerland, where a security team was already waiting for him. He fully understood the danger of coming to this place. He’d given Frank a chance to protect himself, and no doubt the man was already plotting something for when they met again. Although Theodore hadn’t been Frank’s loyal lapdog for some time now, Marcus couldn’t entirely trust his loyalty either.
“Frederick, how are my girls doing?” Marcus asked.
“They’re fine, Marcus! They’re fine, and you? Where are you? It’s been a while since I’ve heard from you!” Frederick replied.
“I came to visit an old friend. I hope my visit will be… appreciated.”
“Marcus, who did you go to see?”
“I’ll tell you when I’m back, my friend. In the meantime, look after my girls, okay?”
Marcus didn’t want to worry Frederick. The man was the type to send an army of hitmen if he felt something was off, and that would ruin the element of surprise.
Upon arriving in Switzerland, Marcus knew exactly where Frank lived. The man hadn’t lost his taste for extravagance, residing a luxurious neighborhood, behaving like a politician. His security was handled by at, least a dozen men, making it clear that he wasn’t one to be trifled with.
Ever since Marcus had caught him off guard more than three years ago, Frank had made sure that wouldn’t happen again or so he thought. Frank was a predictable man; his daily routine never changed. He slept at home under heavy security, had breakfast at the club, went to the sauna, then had lunch with friends at the bar. Later, he’d take care of minor errands–nothing extraordinary. What stood out was his extraordinary way of spending money, sparing no expense, especially when it came to food.
Frank Levett loved the good life, though he couldn’t always afford it. That’s why he was more than pleased when his granddaughter married into the Palmer family–and even more so when she had a son, the future heir to the Palmer fortune. With Peter’s death, all that remained was for old Catherine to die of grief, for Leonardo and his ghosts to retreat to Nepal once more. Once that happened, Frank could return and stir things up a bit to get Maximus to accept his comeback into the company. Everything was going smoothly–at least, that’s how it seemed
For Marcus Bartz, however, Frank had something special planned. That foolish brat had somehow survived their last encounter, though Frank didn’t know how. He no longer trusted Theodore completely, so he’d hired another thug with a shady reputation to handle his protection. Last time, Marcus had left him with a permanent reminder of their meeting. This time, Frank intended to be the one leaving an impression. In fact, he’d reserved a special place in his house for Marcus: his head carried a price.
Marcus spent five days observing Frank’s routine. Theodore had tipped him off that he was no longer in charge of Frank’s security. In fact, Theodore wasn’t even in Switzerland. A different man was handling things now. Lawson and Marcus had traced Frank’s bank transactions, confirming his penchant for luxury. After those five days, they found a window of opportunity to pay Frank a visit during his time in the sauna.
Frank remembered a very different Marcus–a brute of a man. Yet somehow, that bastard had managed to get lucky enough to cut off one of his fingers and stab a knife into his hand. That wouldn’t happen again. From the news Frank had heard, it was clear Marcus was still lurking in the shadows, so Frank wasn’t entirely at ease.
