Chapter 0393
After Valerie and Marcus left for Santorini, Camille quickly got John ready for school. Today, the little boy was particularly excited because his teacher had told the class that a new student would be joining them. The boy was coming from Slovenia, which fascinated John. Having recently moved to a new country himself, John was curious about meeting children from different places, and he had spent the weekend learning all about Slovenia.
At school, John, still being the new kid, usually sat alone. So, it was planned that the new student would sit beside
him.
“Granny Camille, can you pack an extra sandwich for me?” John asked cheerfully as they prepared to leave.
“An extra one? Why?” Camille asked, intrigued.
“Today, my new classmate is arriving, and he’s going to sit next to me!” John said, brimming with excitement.
“But how do you know he’ll want a sandwich?” Camille asked, smiling.
“I don’t know, but you always say you win people over through their stomachs!” John replied matter–of–factly.
Camille looked at him, amused by his logic. She had meant something entirely different when she said that, but his interpretation was sweet. She couldn’t help but smile and decided to go along with his thoughtful plan.
Once everything was ready, Camille, Emma, and John set off for school, accompanied by four bodyguards. Two stayed to watch over John at school, while the other two escorted Camille and Emma back home.
“Hello, Miss!” John greeted his teacher as they arrived.
“Hello, John! How are you today?” the teacher responded warmly.
“I’m good! But I have to run to class now!” John said, already dashing off.
“Alright, see you later, little one!”
Camille didn’t speak Valentian, so Emma accompanied her to translate.
“John is excited,” Emma said, smiling. “He says the new boy is arriving today.”
“Oh yes, I almost forgot. He’ll be John’s new classmate. He hasn’t arrived yet, but he should be here soon,” the teacher explained.
As Emma and Camille walked back toward their car, a sleek Maserati Levante pulled up behind them. A small boy with thick, wavy dark hair and pale skin stepped out, his striking gray eyes catching the light.-
“Ethan, hold my hand. Don’t cross the street without looking both ways,” said a man following closely behind him as he stepped out of the car.
Emma instinctively turned at the sound of the man’s voice, but she only managed to catch a glimpse of his back. He was wearing a short coat and blue jeans, exuding a polished yet casual air.
“Emma, you’ve got great taste! That man is truly handsome. But, my dear, I think we’re a bit too old for this,” Camille teased when she noticed Emma’s lingering gaze.
“Camille! I wasn’t looking at him like that,” Emma replied, flustered. “It’s just… his voice sounded familiar, but I can’t quite place it.”
As Camille and Emma prepared to leave the school after dropping John off, Camille couldn’t help teasing Emma about the man they’d seen.
“Ah! I thought you turned around because that man is truly handsome. Well, Valentia is full of attractive men,

even the older ones,” Camille said with a playful wink.
“Don’t get any ideas, Camille. Let’s go home–I’m hungry and cold,” Emma replied, rolling her eyes.
“Fine, fine. I was just saying,” Camille chuckled. “Let’s head home.”
But as they left, Emma couldn’t shake the feeling that the man’s voice was familiar. “Maybe I’m just old,” she thought, brushing it off as a coincidence.
Meanwhile, Peter walked hand in hand with his grandson, Ethan, toward the school entrance. Being the first day at a new school and given their family’s circumstances, Peter insisted on accompanying Ethan to his classroom before heading to a meeting with the principal.
“Good morning, Mr. Palmer! Good morning, young Pietrovich!” the teacher greeted them warmly at the door.
“Good morning, Miss. I wanted to accompany my grandson but I also need to speak with the principal. Would it be alright if I dropped him off at his classroom first?” Peter asked politely.
“Of course! Let me call someone to guide you to his classroom,” the teacher replied.
Walking through the hallways, Peter offered a warm smile to everyone he passed, while Ethan hopped excitedly beside him, his energy lighting up the atmosphere. When they reached the classroom, Peter knelt down to Ethan’s level.
“Ethan, my boy, I hope you have a fantastic first day at school! I’ll see you at pickup–either I or Theodore will come for you. Be good, alright? No mischief,” Peter said, gently tousling Ethan’s hair.
“Don’t worry, Grandpa! I can take care of myself!” Ethan said confidently.
“I know, but what concerns me are your pranks. Remember, we’re still settling in, so let’s avoid teasing people we don’t know yet.”
“Yes, Grandpa,” Ethan replied sheepishly before giving Peter a kiss on the cheek and heading into the classroom!
Peter watched Ethan find his seat next to a boy with dark hair and light brown skin whose eyes lit up with excitement at meeting his new classmate. Peter smiled, then left for his meeting with the principal.
“Mr. Palmer, I must admit, I’m surprised to hear your surname,” the principal began. “Here in Valentia, there’s a prominent Palmer family. But since you mentioned you’re from Slovenia, I assume there’s no connection.”

“I suppose not,” Peter replied calmly. “As you said, I’m from Slovenia. Perhaps some Palmer moved there long ago, but I wouldn’t know anything about that.”
The principal nodded, though his curiosity remained piqued.
“So, Mr. Palmer, what was the matter you wished to discuss in person?”
“Well… precisely what you just brought up,” Peter said, his voice firm.
“I don’t follow,” the principal said, tilting his head.
“My surname. I would prefer if my grandson were only known by his patronymic, Pietrovich. I understand that the Palmer name carries weight here in Valentia, and I’d like to avoid any unnecessary gossip or complications. Can I count on your discretion? The school will be generously compensated, of course.”
