Chapter 0429
Adrian Brown was a twenty–year–old young man who, due to his indulgences and fast–paced lifestyle, had lost two years of high school. His time at Clearmount College was now his last chance to finish his studies and choose a career within the Brown family, without becoming a dispice,
The son of Amadeus Brown, older brother of Alex Brown, Adrian was the eldest of the second generation of the Browns, His mother, Louise Brown, was of French descent a stunning woman who had given birth to an exceptional specimen like Adrian. His French heritage made his appearance distinctive and elegant. With a slender, angular face, prominent cheekbones, a defined jawline, and large, expressive green eyes, Adrian’s looks were captivating. His dark curly brown hair gave him a carefree and youthful vibe.
Adrian possessed a unique charm. His paternal grandparents considered him their finest “harvest.” Standing at s‘ with a slim, athletic build, he exuded sophistication. For Leonardo Palmer, Adrian seemed the perfect candidate for an arranged marriage with one of his granddaughters. At first, the Browns opposed the idea, but after Leonardo explained his long–term plan, which included Adrian potentially becoming the CEO, they were all on board–and even thrilled.
Of Leonardo Palmer’s two granddaughters, Serenity had no regard for Adrian; in fact, she didn’t even know him. The one time they did have a conversation, it went terribly wrong, so she was immediately ruled out as a possibility. Laura, on the other hand, was sweet and naive an ideal target. Leonardo knew that if she were presented with a compelling love story, she wouldn’t resist
[Meanwhile, at Clearmount]
“Hi, Laura! You look lovely today!” Adrian said, smiling ear to ear as he walked toward her.
“Hi, Adrian! Th–thank you!” Laura stammered, blushing and biting her lip nervously.
“Where are you headed?” Adrian asked curiously.
“I’m looking for the library. I’m still not used to the layout here, and I think I’m lost,” Laura replied casually.
“Mademoiselle…” Adrian said, offering his arm for her to hold.
“Oh no, that’s not necessary! You probably have more important things to do…” Laura said, her cheeks turning
red.
“Come on, gorgeous! I’ll take you to the library. Besides, I’m heading in the same direction,” Adrian insisted, making it clear he wouldn’t take no for an answer.
Before Laura realized it, she was already walking toward the library, her hand resting on Adrian’s arm. She was in shock. There were far more interesting girls at school, judging by the stares they were getting. One moment, she felt embarrassed by the attention; the next, she felt like she was walking on air.
When they reached the library, Adrian leaned in close to Laura’s face and planted a warm kiss on her cheek.
“You’re really beautiful. You should believe it,” he said, watching her blush even more.
Adrian wasn’t a cold person; he was practical. He had plenty of women or young girls to meet his needs, but Laura was different. He knew exactly why he was interested in her, and he had accepted it. He didn’t hate her or reject her. Marriage was a way to clean up his name after two wild years. Plus, Laura intrigued him. She seemed so pure, and as a man, he couldn’t deny that indecent thoughts crossed his mind. But there was no need to rush. He had to be careful. She was submissive, and having her as a wife didn’t seem like a bad idea.
