Chapter 0567
Valerie sat in her room, unaware that Serenity wasn’t home or that John had returned from school. She realized how much time had passed when Camille entered to call her for dinner. Today had been overwhelming, a whirlwind of emotions pulling her in every direction. Anxiety churned in her chest as she grappled with what to do next, feeling suffocated by the weight of her thoughts and guilty for even considering what lingered in her mind.
Emma’s words kept echoing, layered with subtle implications. It was as if Emma was urging her to abandon everything and go find him. Startled, Valerie caught herself scrolling through the school directory, searching for Ethan’s address. She knew that the school requested contact details for emergencies, and now those details offered her a way forward. Quickly, she took a photo of the address and left without saying a word. By the time Camille realized something was off, Valerie was already gone.
Valerie drove to Ethan’s home, analyzing the address as she neared her destination. The house was impossible to miss–centrally located and massive. She couldn’t believe Peter had managed to move so freely without her noticing. Parking the car, she stepped out with determination and rang the doorbell. She needed answers, needed them now.

Peter had left earlier, leaving behind more questions than solutions. She didn’t know he was already on his way to the airport to leave for Slovenia.
“Good evening. Who are you looking for?” asked the housekeeper who answered the door.
“Good evening. Is Peter Palmer here?” Valerie’s voice trembled slightly despite her firm tone.
“And who might you be?”
“Mary… Mary Preston.”
“One moment, please.”
A few moments later, a man’s deep voice replaced the housekeeper’s.
“Mrs. Bartz, you shouldn’t be here. What do you want?” Theodore’s tone was calm but firm.
“I’ve already said–I know Peter Palmer lives here, and I need to speak with him.” Valerie’s frustration was mounting.
Theodore, unaware of the events that had unfolded earlier, assumed someone had leaked Peter’s presence. With no other choice, he opened the gate.
“Come in, but don’t leave your car outside. It might get towed,
Valerie returned to her vehicle and drove into the sprawling estate of the man who had once been her great love. The guards tailing her notified Marcus immediately.
At that moment, Marcus was not in the best state of mind. The revelations from the folders had hit him and Maximus like a ton of bricks. It was clear that Peter had carefully orchestrated the release of the information–not to help them, but to destroy them. His actions were fueled by pain and rage over losing everything in that fateful accident.
Maximus understood the reasoning behind Peter’s actions, but Marcus struggled to accept it. His once–best friend had crafted a plan to strike him where it hurt the most. The remaining folders, particularly 11 and 12, were a testament to that. They targeted Marcus and his family’s past with razor–sharp precision.
“Sir, your wife just entered Peter Palmer’s residence. How should we proceed?”

“What? Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” Marcus roared, his temper flaring,
“Sir, we tried to contact you, but you didn’t answer. As per your instructions, we stayed out of it until there was something significant to report. Now that she’s entered the residence, we thought it necessary to inform you.‘ “You’re all a bunch of incompetent fools! I’m going there now!” Marcus’s fury was palpable.
“Marcus, what’s wrong?” Frederick asked, alarmed by his friend’s outburst.
