Chapter 0667
Maximus stayed on the phone for a long time with Magnus. The process of changing their last names and recognizing paternity was complicated, but for a man like Maximus, nothing was impossible.
[Westhaven]
After a long conversation with his father, Maximus left the house and headed to the hospital where Valerie was admitted. The situation was far from ideal, but he didn’t want to leave her alone. He recognized that much of her psychological turmoil was due to him, so if there was anything he could do to help, he would.
Maximus was driving towards Westhaven when his phone started ringing. He answered it in the car and heard Diana’s calm voice.
“Hello! Maximus?”
“Diana, my love…”
“Maximus, where have you been? It’s been a while, and I haven’t heard from you…‘
“I’m really sorry for my absence, Diana. But a lot has happened here…”
“I figured as much. All the news is about Marcus Bartz’s arrest and how Leonardo, your father, was sadly deceived to have what rightfully belonged to him taken away. He’s blaming Marcus for that…”
“What?! Right now, I’m driving to Westhaven. There’s a lot I need to tell you, but first I have to visit Mary at the hospital.”
“Are you talking about your ex–wife?”
“Mm… Yes, today the babies were born, but she’s not doing well…”
“Are you sure you want to go?”
“Yes… I feel guilty and responsible. The sudden appearance of Peter, along with many past issues, has deeply affected Mary. I just want to make sure she’s okay, then I’ll leave. Can I stop by and see you?”
““That’s fine… We’ll talk when you get here. Drive carefully and remember that I love you…”
“I love you more, Diana! You don’t know how much I’ve missed you…”
“Go where you need to, and I’ll be waiting for you at home!
“Thank you, Diana!”
[Westhaven Police Station]
“Marcus, today your little ones were born, look…” Frederick said, handing Marcus the phone, showing images of the babies in the incubators.
Marcus’s eyes filled with tears, one of his hands went to his mouth as he tried to stay calm and not cry, but it was impossible.
“How long, Frederick? How long will those damned Levetts be my cross to bear?”
“I’m so sorry, Marcus. We’ve been doing everything we can to get you out, but there’s so much social pressure, and they won’t let us file an injunction. I just want you to know that the babies are fine, and Valerie is too.”
“What does she say about the babies?”

“She’s deeply affected. She hasn’t wanted to hold them or breastfeed them. Dr. Hill is already in Westhaven; she’ll start treating her from here.”
