Chapter 0711
While Marcus wrestled with his emotions and what he should do, in the Maldives, Alden and Serenity had finally found a day to meet and spend time together. There was so much to discuss and so many plans to make–they couldn’t keep postponing things. That night, they decided that the next morning, after breakfast, they would tell everyone about their relationship.
Alden had a way of calming Serenity. His words were so comforting that she knew as long as they were together, nothing bad could happen.
What they didn’t count on was that Marcus was already making arrangements to bring them back. His plan was to return everyone to Hesperia.
After several days, Alden and Serenity had a wonderful, special night together. He hadn’t expected to become a father again, but as the idea settled in, he kissed Serenity’s bare belly with tenderness, his touch filling her heart with warmth,
“We’re going to be good parents, Serenity. This baby will be as loved as Ethan. He’ll probably be happy–he needs a little brother or sister.”
“Do you think he’ll accept our relationship?” she asked.
“Ethan’s a smart kid. He wants a family. Even if he doesn’t say it, I know he misses his mom. But she barely has time to see him. Trust me, he needs a complete family, and you and I can give him that, for him and for this baby.”
Alden hesitated, his voice softening. “I love my father, but there are things about him I don’t agree with. I want to build a family with you, with Ethan, and now with this little one on the way.
But I have to be honest–I don’t want you to think I didn’t want this or that I planned for it to happen. I don’t want you to feel like I got you pregnant on purpose.”
“Alden, I’d never think that about you,” Serenity replied firmly. “I know we were being careful, but sometimes things happen. This news has turned our world upside down, but I don’t regret a thing. Please understand that. I love you, and I want to be with you. This baby will always connect us.”
The next morning, the whole family was gathered for breakfast. Alden and Serenity sat together, and Laura had been observing them for a while. She noticed they were acting differently and was just waiting for confirmation of her suspicions.
Alden cleared his throat, took Serenity’s hand under the table, and squeezed it. He stood up, still holding onto her as if his life depended on it.
“Family, there’s something we want to tell you…”
The declaration, and seeing him standing there in front of everyone, made the room fall silent. All eyes turned to him.
“Serenity and I… We’ve been in a relationship for some time now.”
“I knew it!” Laura exclaimed with a wide smile, noticing how their hands intertwined.
“Alden dearie,” Emma said warmly. “As I told Serenity, you both know this relationship will have its challenges. If you’re ready to face them, I’m with you. I support you. Life doesn’t make mistakes–everything happens for a reason. Congratulations for finally making it official!” Her eyes shone with hope.
Emma, more than anyone, remembered how difficult things had been for Mary and Peter. Maybe their story didn’t have a happy ending, but now life was giving Alden and Serenity the chance to succeed where others couldn’t.

“There’s something else we want to share…” Serenity said standing up, her cheeks flushed.
She squeezed Alden’s hand tighter. “I’m pregnant! I’m not sure how far along I am yet, but I found out last week.”
She smiled, her gaze full of love as she looked at Alden. But before they could bask in the moment, a loud cry shattered the peace.
