Chapter 0727
Serenity was inconsolable, tears streaming down her face as she struggled to comprehend that the children were no longer with them. Paul sat in silence, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. He didn’t say a word, but the anger and helplessness etched on his face made it clear the situation had shaken him deeply.
“Paul, everything’s going to be alright,” Alden said firmly. I’m going to get them back. But for now, I need you to focus on taking care of Serenity, Laura, Emma, and Adele. They’re your responsibility now. I’m not talking to a child–I’m talking to the man I know you’ll become. While I’m gone, you’re in charge.”
Paul wiped at his eyes and stood taller. “Yes… I’ll take care of them.”
“Good.” Alden extended his hand, holding out an untraceable phone. “This phone is secure. We’ll use it to communicate. We’re heading to a safe location, but you’re in charge of the girls. Understood?”
Paul nodded, his grip tightening around the phone as Alden gave him an approving look.
Maximus’s men had been dispatched to extract the remaining family members, but Alden couldn’t sit idly by, waiting for updates. Making a series of calls, he mobilized his own resources–including an operation to track down Alexia Levett.
She was barely more than a shell of her former self, but Alden knew she was the only leverage they had to force Frank Levett to return the children. That was only step one, however. Alden wasn’t planning to be merciful like his father or Marcus. He knew exactly what needed to be done to eliminate Frank once and for all.
Before heading to Palmer Group, Marcus made a detour to a secluded warehouse outside the city. As he stepped inside, Maximus followed, only to be taken aback by what he saw. Though the warehouse was clean and orderly, the remnants of its past were unmistakable.
Large barrels were stacked along the walls, labeled with chemicals like sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide. Marcus moved with purpose, ignoring Maximus’s stunned expression, and unlocked a vault. Inside were bags, ropes, weapons, and protective gear.
“What is this, Marcus?” Maximus asked, his voice tinged with unease.
“This, my dear Maximus, is war,” Marcus replied coldly. “Do you know how to use a weapon?”
“Yes, but-”
“Then take what you need. Get ready, because tonight, you’ll use it. There’s protective gear over there–put it on. You have no idea what we’re about to face.”
“Marcus… I… I’ve never done this,” Maximus stammered, Holding a weapon he already recognized but had never had to use outside of training.
“Maximus, there’s a first time for everything,” Marcus said as he began to strip off his clothing.
As Marcus changed into more tactical gear, Maximus caught sight of his bare torso. His skin was riddled with scars -gruesome reminders of the shootout that had claimed Marcus’s family. Those scars were a constant testament to Marcus’s past, one he could never leave behind.
“Hurry up, Maximus. I don’t have your time.”
If I show up at Palmer Group dressed like this, they’ll never let me in. Don’t you think I should wear normal clothes and just carry a weapon?”
“Are you afraid?”

“No!”
“Then stop wasting time. Frank made the first move–he targeted my son and hurt my daughter. He knew exactly what he was doing. He wants Alden’s son because he’s a Palmer. He took my son to break me. He took yours to keep you and Peter in line. Frank isn’t stupid. He’s a snake who calculates every move.”
Marcus pulled a vest over his torso, fastening it tightly before adding, “That bastard is just like his father. And his father? I’ve already sent men to dig him out of whatever hole he’s hiding in, likely in Spain. His wife, Lucia Saints, will be there too.
“Oh, and don’t worry–we’re also going after your wife. If Frank so much as lays a hand on my son or traumatizes him, I won’t hold back just because his accomplices are women.”
“Marcus, think this through! Frank has more power than you realize. If something happens to them, it’ll be on us. I know what Frank wants–it’s the money. If I transfer him the Palmer Group shares, it’ll be enough to get our children back.”
“Maximus, you clearly don’t know the Levetts anymore. People still think they’re the honorable family of the past, but they’re nothing but filth.” 1
Marcus turned back to the vault and pulled out more equipment, adding with a grim smile, “There’s something I learned from my friend Sanchez: ‘No body, no crime.‘ When I was in prison, Frank tried to pin all sorts of crimes and disappearances on me, but nothing stuck because there were no bodies, no evidence, no motive.
“Peter, myself, and an old friend–who’s no longer alive–had some good times in this place,” Marcus said, gesturing to the warehouse.
Maximus froze, realization dawning. His eyes darted around the space again, taking in its dark history. “Marcus… this is where you corrupted my brother, isn’t it?”
Marcus paused for a moment before answering with a shrug. “Yes, Maximus. This is the place. I won’t deny it. A lot of lives ended here. Were they innocent? You can be sure they weren’t. Peter chose this location and oversaw its setup. I have to admit, besides being my friend, your brother was an excellent worker.”
Marcus turned back to the vault, dismissing the conversation with a wave. “Now stop distracting me. Take the weapons you think you’ll be able to use and suit up. No matter how much you try to reason with me, you won’t change my mind. Maximus, I never thought you’d still believe in legal justice. I lost faith in that the day my family was taken from me. And now? I’m far too old to believe in such things.”
[Madrid, Spain]
At the Levett residence, Lucia was on the phone with her husband, Frank, seated comfortably on the living room sofa. Their conversation was cut short when she noticed something odd.
