Valerie could only watch as Marcus left the place. She wanted to follow him, but the path quickly separated them, not giving her a chance to approach him. Everyone there was frightened. The place had been invaded by hitmen, something never seen before. Dr. Hill had a pale complexion; she couldn’t explain what had just happened. 

It wasn’t until one of the security men arrived and informed her that Marcus Bartz had been the one behind this disaster. 

“Dr. Hill, the man arrived looking for Peter Palmer, but in the end, he left alone. We’ve already reviewed the surveillance footage, and let me show you what we found.” 

Dr. Hill watched the recordings, seeing the argument between Peter, Valerie, and Marcus. 

“Damn it! This can’t be! Bring those two patients here!” Dr. Hill said, startled. 

“Yes, doctor!” 

Minutes later, Valerie and Peter arrived. Valerie had obviously been crying, and Peter was trying to comfort her, but Valerie pushed him away. She didn’t want him to touch her. Her whole life was falling apart. 

“Valerie, Peter, I think I’ve made a serious mistake. I definitely couldn’t stop you two from meeting here. Part of this is my fault, but I can’t deny it. I’m sorry for what I have to do, but I must ask you both to leave this hospital. I can’t risk the lives of my patients and staff because of another attack like today’s.” 

“You must leave the premises immediately. I’m sorry, but I never imagined situations like this would happen in my worst scenarios.” 

“Dr. Hill, I’m the one who should leave. Valerie should finish her treatment. I never should’ve come here,” Peter said. 

“I’m sorry, Mr. Palmer! I’m trying to be reasonable according to our ethics, but this situation is beyond my control, especially with everything in the media about you and your past.” 

“What are you talking about?” 

“Peter, I think this is a delicate matter, and I can’t allow you to stay here, especially after what just happened. I can’t even allow Mr. Bartz to come back and harm my staff because of you.” 

“I understand! But Valerie, she, she can stay here.” 

“I’m sorry, Mrs. Bartz! But having her here is the same as having problems. I’m sorry for what I’m doing, but this is completely out of my hands. Would you like to call someone to come get you?” 

For a moment, Valerie thought of Marcus, but it was clear he couldn’t be the one. Carpille–she might come. 

“Dr. Hill, can I call a friend?” 

“Go ahead!” 

Valerie tried to contact her multiple times, but Camille’s phone didn’t ring. Marcus had taken Camille’s phone after John’s kidnapping. He didn’t want to risk the twins, so Valerie could only contact her through a bodyguard. 

Valerie turned to Dr. Hill and said: 

“I can’t reach my friend. I’ll try calling someone else.” 

Valerie had to leave the hospital immediately. She knew it was all her fault. She wished she could turn back time, but she knew that was a foolish desire. She tried calling Frederick, but he didn’t answer. He was probably ordered
