“I understand, Maximus… It’s just that I don’t know if bringing your ex–wife is wise, especially with Marcus out of control. I only had to hear how he spoke to you earlier to realize that man is dangerous.” 

“Calm down! As long as you’re by my side, there won’t be any misunderstandings.” 

Magnus listened to their conversation, feeling both grateful that his son had someone by his side and had set aside his bad habits, but also surprised by the maturity with which Maximus was handling things with his ex–wife. 

He had clearly heard about the proud Maximus Palmer. It was obvious that at first, he hadn’t agreed with how his son had been managing his life, but there wasn’t much he could comment on. 

[Florentia, Valentia] 

Valerie had been taken to one of the best hotels in Florentia and had been given some clothes. She stood for a long time in front of her room’s window, unable to shake the strange feeling. 

Twenty years ago, she had been in a worse situation–pregnant and alone. Now, she needed to talk to Marcus at all costs. She couldn’t just sit idly by. It was clear that no one could help her more than herself. 

She had been through a similar situation before and managed to get through it. Today, she couldn’t give up easily. She knew that what she did wasn’t right, but she had no intention of staying with Peter, and he didn’t either. It had all been a stupid mistake on her part. 

After thinking it over for a while, Valerie decided to call Marcus, but he didn’t answer any of her attempts. 

Unable to do much more, she lay down for a moment, a strong headache from the remorse of her actions taking over her. Just the thought that Marcus might not let her see their children broke her heart, causing her to cry herself to sleep. 

[Magnus Evans’s House] 

“Welcome to my home, you can stay as long as you need.” 

“Your house is huge and beautiful,” Diana said, amazed. 

“Diana, you must be exhausted. You and Maximus can take any of the rooms on the second floor, but I’d like to discuss a few matters with him before he rests.” 

“Go on, I’ll catch up with you in a moment, my love.” 

“Follow me, Maximus. We need to talk about the future.” 

Maximus followed Magnus to his office. Despite being older, Magnus didn’t look tired at all. In fact, today, when Maximus saw him, it seemed like he had rejuvenated a few years. 

“Maximus, come in and close the door.” 

“Sure, can I ask you something?” 

“From what you told me, you didn’t want to come back to Valentia, yet here you are.” 

“When I saw the news, I realized you would need some help, so I had to put aside my beliefs and come see you. 

“There’s something you need to know. Anthony Moriarty doesn’t plan to save your brother. You need to find a way to help him. Peter has committed several crimes, and honestly, no matter how much look, I can’t find a way to help him.” 

“Magnus, are you telling me that despite everything Peter has done for what’s coming, he’s going to end up
