Chapter 0770
“Everything will be fine,” Alden murmured, pulling her into his arms.
Emma happened to see them leaving and raised an eyebrow Something about them seemed off, but she didn’t suspect what they were about to do.
Serenity wore a white floral dress that hugged her curves beautifully, highlighting the small but undeniable bump growing in her belly. It wasn’t out of the ordinary–ever since she got pregnant, she preferred wearing loose dresses for comfort. Alden, on the other hand, was dressed in a sleek dark suit, making him look both elegant and devastatingly attractive.
“You two look… very dressed up,” Emma noted, eyeing them suspiciously. “Where are you going?”
“Oh, I have a business meeting, and afterward, I’m taking Serenity out to eat. Why?” Alden replied smoothly, his tone casual.
“Oh, I see! You just looked kind of suspicious for a moment”
“Relax, Emma! We’re just going out for a bit and will be back soon. Laura took the kids out, so we thought we’d take advantage of the quiet.”
“Alright, but don’t come back too late. Alden, you know this country well, but you also know there are people out there looking for you.”
As soon as they stepped out of the apartment, Alden and Serenity both exhaled. Maybe they should have told Emma, but they didn’t want her to try and talk them out of it. They had already made up their minds, and nothing was going to change that.
When they arrived at the civil registry office, Serenity froze in shock. Standing there, waiting for them, were Ethan, John, Paul, Laura, and Emma–who held little Adele in her arms.
“Alden… but you…” Serenity stammered, completely caught off guard.
“Serenity, this isn’t the dream wedding you deserve, but I couldn’t let you go through this without our little family by our side. So now, let’s go. The judge is waiting for us–I had to bring him in from outside since the traditions here are completely different.”
Laura beamed at them, her heart full. She adored their relationship. Serenity was her sister, and Alden… well, deep down, she wished life would one day bring her someone like him. She knew her past mistakes had led her to fall for a man who never truly loved her, but she didn’t regret anything–because if she did, that would mean regretting Adele. And that baby girl was the greatest gift she had ever received.
Alden led Serenity into a small, beautifully decorated room. The setting was intimate and romantic, perfect for the moment. The judge stood at the front, waiting. Once everyone had taken their seats, he began reading the marriage certificate aloud, gave a brief speech, and within minutes, Serenity and Alden were officially husband and wife.
Everything felt like a blur in Serenity’s mind. It had all happened so fast. She understood why, she knew why this had to be done this way, but part of her still wished her parents had been there. A wave of emotions crashed over her, bringing tears to her eyes. They weren’t tears of sadness or pain–just nostalgia. A year ago, she had been the daughter of a loving family, and now she was part of a new loving family… just in a very different way.
After leaving the registry office, Alden had another surprise waiting. He took everyone out for a celebratory dinner, having booked a table at an elegant restaurant, where the decor was as beautiful as the occasion itself.
The waiters quickly poured champagne for the adults and juice for the children. Alden stood up and raised his glass.
