Alden and Serenity set off on a short trip to Santorini. They left Emma and Laura in charge of the kids, ensuring they were well–protected by a top–tier security team that Alden himself had hired.
Alden knew how much Serenity loved photography, and Santorini was a paradise for capturing breathtaking shots. The moment she had once mentioned wanting to visit the island, he had made up his mind–this would be their improvised honeymoon.
Ironically, Santorini was the same place where, twenty–three years ago, Mary and Maximus had spent their own disastrous honeymoon. It was the same destination, but not the same people. Mary had never told her daughter about that part of her past–she was ashamed to admit that she had almost betrayed her father.
“Where are we going, Alden?” Serenity asked curiously as they arrived at the airport.
“It’s a surprise! I know you’re going to love it.“”
“Hmm… Don’t tell me we’re going to Valentia?”
“Of course not! You’ll find out in six hours.”
Serenity laughed as they boarded a private jet. Once they settled in, Alden turned to face her.
“My love, you’re my wife now, and I want to make you happy–every single day that we’re together. I know we didn’t get the big ceremony you might have wanted, but I want to make it up to you with our honeymoon. I promise you’re going to love it.”
“Alden, I’m already happy just being with you. I’ve been happy ever since I chose you to be in my life. You, me, and our baby–we’re about to start our own family. Even if our parents don’t agree, we’ll be fine, because as long as we’re together, we can build our home anywhere.”
Alden gently lifted her chin, bringing her face close to his before pressing a tender kiss to her lips.
“I love you, Serenity. Hear me loud and clear–nothing and no one will ever separate us. I know life brought us together for a reason, and I swear, I will never stop loving you.”
While the couple was flying toward Santorini, back in the Emirates, Emma and Laura sat outside, gazing at the night sky, deep in conversation.
“Emma, I feel strange…” Laura admitted softly.
“Why, my dear?”
“I spent so many years alone. When I found out I had a sister, I was overjoyed–I still am. But now that Serenity is starting a new life, I feel… weird. I always thought we’d have more time together.”
Emma sighed, wrapping an arm around her. “My love, you’re not alone. You have me. I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there for you when you were a little girl, but I promise, I’ll be here for the rest of my life. My kids have their own lives, and we see each other when we can, but I will never leave your side. You need to know that.”
“Thank you, Emma. I don’t know what I would have done without you and Serenity. I have Adele, of course, and I know my father is a good man… but taking care of kids? Not really his thing.”
Emma chuckled. “My dear, you should give your father a chance…

Laura let out a soft sigh, shaking her head. “I do give him credit, but let’s be honest–business is his thing. Taking care of kids has been a monumental task for him.”
Emma chuckled. “Of course, it has! But imagine suddenly finding yourself the father of four kids, all different

ages, with completely different needs–and you’ve never been involved in their lives before. On top of that, you discover you have an older daughter you never even knew existed.”
“Well… when you put it that way, I guess it’s a lot to process.”
T
“Exactly. Your father is no saint, and for a long time, he and I were far from getting along. But you kids–you don’t need to inherit the feuds of the past. You need a steady hand to guide you through life, someone to give you advice, to patch up your wounds when you fall. That’s the role I want to have. I may be old, but I can still take care of all of you just fine.”
Laura’s eyes softened as she whispered, “Thank you, Emma. Thank you for everything–for my siblings, for Adele … and most of all, for me.”
“Oh, enough of that, my girl! No getting sentimental on me now,” Emma teased, patting her arm. “Come on, let’s take Adele out for a stroll. And if she’s asleep, we’ll make some tea and keep talking. Sound good?”
“Yes!”
“Let’s go, then.” Emma linked arms with her as they headed toward the door. But before they stepped out, she added, “By the way… have you thought about what you’ll do when we go back to Valentia?”
“What do you mean?”
