However, Candice had underestimated Sonia. 

She appeared in her office during the next break with a notebook in her hand. 

Her eyes were still red. It was obvious that she had cried, 

She stood in front of Candice. Her voice sounded stuffy. “I’m sorry, Candice. I shouldn’t have said something like that earlier in the afternoon.” 

Candice frowned and looked at Sonia, who was looking at her sincerely. “I won’t do that again. I just want to know the chairman’s preferences, so that I won’t make any mistakes next time.” 

There was nothing wrong with what she was saying. As she had the correct attitude and it was during break time, most of the other staff were in their offices. Candice wasn’t in a position to say anything else. 

With a nod, she led Sonia to the balcony outside. 

Sonia listened very attentively, and Candice’s heart was quite calm as well.

All that was happening now was Sonia simply needing one afternoon break to discover everything she had spent so much time and effort finding out; the preferences of Alex’s parents. 

It wasn’t so bad. She could finally let it go. 

After finishing the last bit, she looked at her phone. “Time to get back to work.” 

“Candice…” Sonia held the notebook and called out to her, her voice gentle. “You…” 

She hesitated, but didn’t continue. Candice knew what she wanted to ask. How did she manage to find out about Daniel and Helen’s likings in such detail? 

Candice looked at Sonia’s eyes and said, wearing the same face, “Alex didn’t tell me.” 

Sonia let out a sigh of relief. She thanked her and left with the notebook. 

Candice stood for a moment longer on the balcony. 

The balcony was shielded by a piece of glass. Candice looked down at all the cars driving in and out. There was peace in her eyes. 

Daniel and Helen’s preferences… Yes, Alex didn’t tell her. 

Alex was busy dealing with all the matters in Aether and his relationship with his family was very bad. 

She was the fool, however. Thinking that if she could get his parents to like her, they would help Alex. 

That was how she found out about Daniel and Helen’s likings. All of that resulted from her failing again and again.

Candice placed the documents on his table and said, “These need your signature.” 

When Alex heard her voice, he glanced at her before saying, “Put them here.” 

As the documents still needed to go to the finance department and the operations department, she asked, “ How long?”
