Joe had stayed in the hospital for a few days and his condition had improved a lot. At least, he could speak clearer than before. 

However, they still couldn’t mention Yvonne. Otherwise, he would get emotional easily. 

Candice had wanted to ask him a few times just what exactly Yvonne had said, but her grandfather simply waved his hand, refusing to talk more about it. All she could do was sigh. 

Candice said nothing and simply looked at her grandfather’s latest results. She was much more relieved. “The readings are mostly normal now. You just have to rest for two more days.” 

Joe was so much thinner than before. His hair to the side of his head had even become white. 

After speaking to the nurse from the nursing home, she walked over to find the doctor with the report. 

But as soon as she stepped out of the ward, she received a call from one of her previous clients. 

As the hospital was quite noisy, she had to go out to answer the call. 

Once she was done dealing with the client and returned to the ward, she encountered Helen. 

Helen looked at her with a snort and said with an antagonistic tone, “You’re everywhere.” 

Candice stopped and said, “I won’t disturb you.” 

She had just wanted to leave when Helen called out to her. “Stop a while.” 

Helen then put the slip in Candice’s hand and ordered her, “Get me a booking. I want to get the checkup done in the afternoon.” 

Candice stood there holding the slip and said, “I’m sorry. I have something else going on and it’s not that convenient right now.” 

Helen’s beautiful eyes glared at Candice. “What did you say?” 

It was the first time that Candice refused her, and Helen was in disbelief. 

Candice was very calm as she returned the slip to Helen. “Mrs. Elysian, I’m sorry but I can’t help you. If you need help, please go to reception.”

Helen didn’t take the slip. Instead, she simply glanced at the slip in Candice’s hand before raising her eyes and glared at her mockingly. “So you’re becoming pretentious after you’re dumped by Alex?” 

Candice knew Helen didn’t like her, so her fingers curled back. She had just wanted to say something when she heard Sonia’s sweet voice. “How did you get here? Didn’t I say that you can simply wait for me over there?” 

Sonia had just finished her sentence ven she appeared in front of Candice. 

When she saw Candice, she was als tunned, and she frowned so slightly that it was almost undetectable.

Candice looked at how she was probing her. She simply said, “No.” 

She gave the slip to Sonia. “Mrs. Elysian needs to book a checkup.” 

Sonia quickly took it. 

At first, she wanted to think of a way to see Helen. But no matter how she tried, she couldn’t even get close to 

her.
