Unaware that Alex was also present, Candice sat in the car for a while, preparing to drive, when she received a call from her grandfather. 

Since her grandfather had been discharged from the hospital, Candice had been busy these past few days and had not visited him much. 

Adjusting her emotions, she answered, “Grandpa?” 

Her grandfather’s voice sounded much older and weaker than before. He asked her, “Do you have 

time the day after tomorrow?” 

Candice’s heart sank. The day after tomorrow was the anniversary of her grandmother’s passing. and in her recent state of irritability, she had almost forgotten. 

Her grandfather and grandmother had a close relationship. After her grandmother’s death, her grandfather had been living alone. 

Every year on the anniversary of her grandmother’s passing, her grandfather would invite Candice to visit her grandmother together. 

Candice’s voice softened involuntarily as she replied, “I’ll come to pick you up the morning after 

tomorrow. 

Blue Artifact was not in the city center but in the nearby suburbs. Candice had agreed to meet with the person in charge at two o’clock, and she still had five minutes when she arrived. 

Looking at herself in the mirror, Candice touched up before heading inside. 

The person in charge, who was called Zane Clark, was already waiting at the entrance. 

Candice put on a professional smile, “Mr. Clark, nice to meet you. I’m Candice Renault from Aether 

Corporation, responsible for coordinating with Blue Artifact this time.” 

Zane was in his thirties with a refined temperament. He shook hands with Candice and then 

asked, “Is Ms. Renault the only one coming? Wasn’t Mr. Elysian supposed to be joining us?” 

As soon as he finished speaking, footsteps were heard from behind, and Alex’s cold, deep voice 

said, “Mr. Clark.” 

Zane saw Alex and immediately greeted him, “Mr. Elysian, I was just asking Ms. Renault why you had yet to arrive.” 

Alex said, “Sorry for the delay. I had to handle some matters that suddenly arose.”

Right now, seeing Alex or even hearing his voice made her feel physically uncomfortable. 

Zane led Alex inside. As they passed by Candice, the familiar scent of cedar that she had grown accustomed to suddenly became as piercing as a blizzard, making her throat ache. 

Alex hesitated for a moment beside her and then followed Zane inside. 

Sawyer approached, and seeing Candice still stationary, whispered a reminder, “Candice, Mr. Elysian has already gone in.” 

However, Candice stood there, wanting to turn around and leave. 

She exerted a considerable effort to restrain herself from showing an unsightly expression, closed her eyes, nodded, and her voice sounded hoarse. “Why did you all come to Blue Artifact?”
