“Candy!” Joe might be old, but he was not muddle–headed. 

Although Candice had explained that she and Alex were no longer involved, he hesitated to let her have any contact with Alex again.

Candice nodded and pointed to the fish soup. “Madam Zora, could you please pack this for me?”

Candice stayed silent until Madam Zora suddenly mentioned. “I saw Henry last month. He and his wife have just had their second child. Now, the whole family is crowded in the urban village.” 

Henry Renault was Candice’s father, and hearing him being mentioned, both Candice and her grandfather’s expressions turned a little colder. 

Madam Zora also knew that she should not say too much and passed the takeout bag to them 

and returned to the kitchen. 

Candice carried the bag with one hand while the other supported her grandfather out of the place. 

However, Sonia and her group were sitting right in the center, so Candice had to pass by them to 

leave.

up after sensing her gaze. 

Then, he casually spoke. “Didn’t you receive the hospital’s message?” 

Candice felt a lump in her throat, and she could not make a sound. 

Joe frowned and asked. “Candice, are you going for a checkup? Are you feeling unwell?” 

Candice’s body was already trembling slightly. She looked at Alex in disbelief. 

Alex had arranged a health check for her, and it was humiliating enough. She didn’t expect Sonia 

to know about it as well. 

And her grandfather was present too… 

Alex stared at her for a while before casually averting his gaze. Then, he nonchalantly answered 

her grandfather. “It’s a routine checkup required by the company.”

down, and finally found her voice. “I’m fine, Grandpa.” 

It wasn’t until Candice and her grandfather left that Sonia’s father asked her. “Was that girl just 

now from your company?”
