As Alex’s indifferent words were spoken, Candice felt as if her entire heart had been violently pounded, to the extent that she could not catch her breath for a moment. 

She looked at Alex in disbelief, and the fingers supporting her on the cabinet turcite due to exertion. 

Candice felt a ringing in her ears, almost as if her head was buzzing. 

She could not understand.

Alex had yet to leave. Dressed in a sleek black suit with every button on the shirt fastened impeccably, he looked down at Candice with his dark, penetrating eyes. 

The depths of his eyes were unfathomable, making it impossible to guess what he was thinking. 

By the time Alex was summoned away by a phone call, Candice still had not uttered a word. 

She stood in place for quite a while, then awkwardly pulled the corners of her mouth into a faint smile. Tears had dried on her face, leaving only an uncomfortable sensation. 

The next morning, Candice did not go to the company. Instead, she went directly to Dorrington Hospital. 

The scheduled medical examination was comprehensive, so comprehensive that Caridice could not help but think that Alex was somewhat considerate. 

However, when she was called into the gynecology department, her expression was still unpleasant.

“Have you already come to an agreement with Blue Artifact?” 

“Yeah, they want to promote their niche series.” After finishing the conversation, Hanley seemed to think of something and asked, “Are you outside now?” 

Candice took a deep breath. “I’m handling something outside.” 

Hanley did not want to disturb her further but mentioned. “If you have time later, let’s have a meal. together. Blue Artifact should be joining too.” 

It seemed he was trying to play matchmaker between Candice and Blue Artifact. Candice tried her best to sound pleasant and joyful. “In that case, I’ll have to thank you.”
