Chapter 0187
While waiting for Hanley to arrive. Candice saw Vince Brooks quickly heading downstairs with two
interns.
She speculated that it was probably Chad who had come.
Yesterday, Vince had shared a photo of himself with Chad and reposted several hospital public
account reports on Twitter.
Authoritative experts were welcomed everywhere, especially those involved in neurology and brain -related surgeries, which was why Vince had long admired Chad.
Dr. Brooks was already at the elevator, but suddenly, something struck him. He turned back a few steps and whispered to Candice. “The seminar will start in fifteen minutes. Dr. Sul should be resting downstairs now. If you want to take a chance, you can give it a try.”
Candice was taken aback. She glanced at Vince, but he had already resumed his previous
expression and hastily departed.
She gradually understood his intent. She stood up and subconsciously glanced at her grandfather
in the ward.
Her grandfather’s condition couldn’t be delayed further, and she knew he wouldn’t want to lie in
bed like this forever.
He was also a very determined person.
Candice made a decision in her heart, then lifted her foot and headed toward the meeting room
Vince had mentioned.
In the second–floor meeting room, Chad was discussing a case with a doctor when his phone suddenly rang.
His expression turned serious as his work was interrupted.
Initially, he wanted to hang up, but upon seeing the caller ID, he reluctantly answered.
However, whatever was said on the other end made Chad’s expression turn increasingly stern.
Finally, unable to restrain himself, he reprimanded, “Linda, you know I dislike people saying these things to me!”
Linda sighed helplessly. “Chad, we’ve had some history. It’s just a small favor. Besides, the person is desperate to save a life. Do you have to be so rigid?”

“No matter who your friend is, I won’t help. That’s my principlel If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up.” His voice turned cold as he ended the call.
At that moment, a doctor outside suddenly called, “Dr. Sul.”
Chad raised his eyes. His expression was very serious.
“What’s the mallea
An intern came over and said, “There’s a patient’s family outside looking for you. They want you to
check on the patient’s condition.”
Chad was known in the industry for being strict but compassionate, earning him the title of an
exemplary doctor.
“Okay, let them in.”
As soon as he said that, a calm female voice sounded from the door, “Dr. Sul.”
Chad looked up and saw Candice standing at the entrance.
His brows furrowed, and he spoke in a less pleasant tone, “It’s you again?”
Candice’s lashes fluttered lightly. She spoke slowly, as if gathering courage, “Dr. Sul, I want to apologize for my attitude this morning. I sincerely implore you to go upstairs and check on my
grandfather’s condition.”
“I’ve seen several surgeries you performed before, some in worse conditions than my
grandfather’s. I’m asking you to go and have a look. Please.”
She displayed an extremely humble attitude, and Chad’s brows gradually tightened.
Vince had indeed spoken to him about Candice’s grandfather’s situation. But Chad had also heard
from Helen that Candice was scheming and constantly bothering Alex, aiming to leverage the
Elysian family’s power for personal gain.
Seeing him remain silent, a complex emotion flickered in Candice’s eyes. However, she lowered
her lashes, masking those emotions well.
“Mr. Elysian, Dr. Lenard is inside.”
As she was hesitating, a voice suddenly came from outside.
Someone outside must have said something because one of the doctors in the meeting room suddenly slapped his head. “Oh, I forgot. I had an appointment with Aether Corporation today to discuss the collaboration for a previous charity checkup project.”
Aether Corporation was currently busy with a tender, thus trying to bolster its societal image.
Dr. Lenard was about to leave, but Alex had already entered the room.

He glanced at Candice before looking at Chad and uttered in a low voice, “Uncle.”
Chad nodded, the displeasure on his face slightly easing. “The charity event you mentioned to me yesterday, is it in collaboration with the Silverstone Hospital?”
Alex nodded. “The process is already underway.”
Dr. Lenard reacted, asking. “So. Mr. Elysian is Dr. Sul’s nephew?”
The expression on Chad’s face was stern. “Charity check–ups are not trivial, and the scale is significant. Thank you for your hard work.”
Dr. Lenard smiled and waved his hand.
Seeing the conversation might diverge like this, even though Candice hadn’t expected Alex to suddenly appear in the hospital, she couldn’t afford to think about him now.
She spoke up once again, “Dr. Sui, can I
ve up a bit of your:
Chad looked at her. Due to his perennial sternness, his expression appeared very serious.
He checked the time. “Sorry. The seminar will start in five minutes. I think I don’t have the time.”
“Also, instead of wasting time here, you might as well spend more time with your grandfather.
He’s old and doesn’t necessarily need to occupy these medical resources!”
Due to his recent unpleasant phone call with Linda, he was in a bad mood and inadvertently redirected some of his irritation toward Candice.
Thinking about Linda’s words made Chad angry, and with a scowl, he went straight to the
