Accompanying Sonia was another department manager whom Candice had interacted with 

before. Upon hearing Sonia’s words, that person looked uneasy but didn’t dare to speak up. After all, the affair between Sonia, Candice, and Alex was still a hot topic in the company. 

After Sonia finished speaking, she tilted her chin slightly, a trace of satisfaction evident in her eyes. “Candice, do you think I’m right?” 

When Candice came to Aether Corporation, she expected to hear unpleasant words. However, the matters concerning the studio were more critical, and she couldn’t care much about other things. 

Raising an eyebrow calmly, she inquired, “Is this how Ms. Summers treats guests now?” 

Sonia frowned slightly, and Candice glanced at the receptionist beside her. “I made an appointment with Ms. Xandors from the secretary’s office. You can check.” 

Winnie Xandor had been promoted in the secretary’s office after Candice had resigned. They had a decent relationship since they had previously worked together in the office. 

Coincidentally, Kayla arrived. She greeted Candice, “Candice, Ms. Xandors asked me to come down and pick you up.” 

Seeing Sonia’s stiff expression, Kayla smirked sarcastically. “Is Ms. Summers also here to bring Candice upstairs?” 

It was almost the end of the workday, and Candice didn’t want to waste time. Without even looking at Sonia, she casually said, “Let’s go upstairs.” 

“Candice.” However, Sonia suddenly spoke up. She stared at Candice’s composed face and slowly said, “It’s my birthday in a couple of days, and Alex has arranged a birthday party for me. Would you also come?” 

Originally, she just wanted to regain some face in front of Candice, but as she continued, her confidence grew, and her tone rose a few decibels. 

Yes. Alex would arrange a birthday party for her. What about Candice? What did she have? She 

was just someone dismissed by Aether Corporation. 

Entering the elevator and going upstairs, Kayla muttered beside Candice. “I don’t know what she’s showing off about. She wanders around the company all day long. For those who know her, she’s a secretary; for those who don’t, they might think she’s just a patrol guard.” 

Candice didn’t respond. She had genuine business to see Winnie, so she had made an

They said the secretary’s office was the logistical force and knew everything. Candice had another purpose for coming today. 

Thinking about the matter at hand, she followed Kayla out of the elevator. However, as soon as she reached the secretary’s office, she saw a tall figure inside. 

Alex. 

He exuded a cold aura, his voice undetectable of any emotion, “Is this what you’ve submitted?” 

No one in the office dared to speak. 

Kayla softly explained to Candice, “The data analysis of the Solaris companies that Mr. Elysian had a broad scope of. The secretary’s office worked overtime for a week, but he is still dissatisfied. 

Candice knew that Alex was very strict when it came to work. She didn’t respond but instinctively took two steps back, not planning to go in right away. 

However, Alex seemed to sense something. He glanced slightly, his deeply chilling gaze fixed on 

Candice. 

His thin lips were pressed tightly together. Candice’s body momentarily stiffened, but she soon 

regained her composure. She averted her gaze from his eyes, slightly moving to the side, waiting 

for him to finish venting before leaving. 

However, Alex’s gaze was still locked on her. After a moment, he spoke expressionlessly. “If your 

don’t want to work at Aether Corporation, then leave.” 

Beside Candice, Kayla panicked, quickly apologizing, “Sorry, Mr. Elysian.” 

After speaking, she hurriedly returned to the office. 

Candice lowered her eyes. She had misunderstood earlier; Alex had been looking at Kayla. 

But just as she thought so, his voice sounded again, “Since when does the secretary’s office allow 

anyone to come and go as they please?” 

This time, it was directed at her. 

Winnie awkwardly explained, “Mr. Elysian, Candice had an appointment. She came to Aether 

Corporation for something important.”

As soon as she had finished speaking, Alex directly tossed the document, which he hadn’t even looked at, back to Candice. “Impossible.” 

Candice spoke in a low voice. “The reputation and advantages of Burning Star Studio aren’t 

inferior to Dream Search.” 

“So what?” Alex played with a pen in his hand, his dark eyes revealing no emotion, only a vague shadow of Candice.
