Chapter 0296
Candice did not respond to old Mr. Elysian’s words. She brought the old man to a nearby restaurant and had lunch with him before returning to the hospital. He barely ate anything during lunch and from his expression, his mood was not great either.
He had wanted to bring up Alex a couple of times, but Candice had calmly blocked him. Shawn was hesitant, but no longer mentioned it.
The results of the check–up were still in the hospital. After having lunch, Candice brought Shawn
back.
As they passed by the emergency room, the doctors and nurses were busy and it was a little noisy. Candice didn’t look as they passed, but the old man glanced inside.
Old Mr. Elysian’s results from the examination were not problematic, just that he was unaccustomed to the climate. Furthermore, the time difference meant he was struggling to rest well. The doctor instructed him to return home, stroll a little more and rest well.
Candice accepted the prescription the doctor handed over to her. “I’ll go and get the medicine first. Bruno, please bring Grandpa over and wait for me.” The old man did not have much energy. so he nodded before leisurely following Bruno over.
Candice held the prescription and as she was about to hand the list over to the pharmacist, she heard a soft voice behind her. “Lex, drawing blood hurts.”
A deep, cold voice comforted her. “Just this once.” It was Alex.
“But I’m still very scared. You know me.”
Candice paused and she lowered her gaze. She did not look around, acting as if she had not heard Sonia’s voice. She had no idea that she was easily recognisable from behind.”
Sonia noticed Candice and came over. She just could not stand seeing Candice living better than she was, and she could not stand how Candice always had a look as if Sonia was beneath her.
Since she started working in Aether, it had always been like that. Perhaps it was a woman’s sixth sense. From the first time she saw Candice, she knew that she just could not get along with her. She had subconsciously rejected Candice. Especially when she had heard others talking about the relationship between Candice and Alex in envious tones, she had felt even more
uncomfortable.
Why were some people so brilliant, as if all the good things in the world should fall on them?
But now, the glow on Candice had disappeared. More than that, Candice was not doing as well as she was now. After all, she was now Alex’s girlfriend.
Sonia’s emotions moved slightly, and she rubbed against Alex’s arm affectionately, then walked. towards Candice. “Candice, what a coincidence,”
Candice turned around without any expression on her face. Her gaze fell on Sonia’s other hand, which was held up high, with a piece of cotton wool on it.
Her other hand was firmly pressed against Alex’s body. Alex’s black eyes were cold and deep, and his face was indifferent.
