Alex was sitting on the sofa with his eyes closed, resting. When he heard footsteps, he opened his eyes.
Candice looked at him, and frowned.
Alex's face was pale, and there was no color on his lips. His hand was placed on his stomach, appearing to be very uncomfortable.
Candice realized that Alex had drunk too much the night before, and today he probably had not recovered yet. Moreover, he had drunk with Solomon again, and on an empty stomach. It would be strange if he did not feel uncomfortable.
She looked at the cup in front of Alex, reached out to touch it, and found that it was already cold.
She put down the folder she was carrying and picked up the cup to refill it with warm water, which she placed in front of Alex.
Alex had been looking at Candice since she entered the room. He glanced at the folder on the coffee table in front of Candice and asked slowly, "Anything the matter?"
Hearing the barely concealed tension in his tone, Candice said, "Sawyer has gone to buy medicine for you. I'll leave when he comes back."
Alex acknowledged with a grunt and didn’t say anything else. He only glanced at Candice again before looking away and closing his eyes to rest.
Judging from the unpleasant expression on his face, it seemed that his stomach ache was quite severe. Candice sat quietly opposite him, without saying a word.
Alex's stomach problems were a longstanding issue from before, and he could only take medicine to alleviate the symptoms.
However, Sawyer had been gone for quite a while. It had been twenty minutes and he still had not returned. Candice wanted to tell Alex that she would go downstairs first, but when she looked over she found that Alex had fallen asleep with his eyes closed.
There was a thin layer of sweat on his forehead, he was frowning, but his long eyelashes drooped down, forming a dense arc. His breathing was calm and shallow. Candice looked at his face and saw a faint shadow under his eyes.
