My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s) novel Chapter 371

Candice watched as Henry embraced Hailey and entered the hotel. She was standing near the entrance, and if Henry had turned around, he could have easily spotted her.

But he was too busy chatting with Hailey, and Candice watched as a doting smile crept onto his handsome profile, ending with him kissing Hailey on her right cheek.

Candice looked away and felt nauseous.

"You're right on time."

The nauseating feeling hadn't subsided yet when a cold, indifferent voice sounded beside her.

Candice turned around to see Darius getting out of a black Bentley. He must have just come from the company, still dressed in formal attire, with his hair neatly combed back, erasing any trace of childishness.

She didn't know when he had arrived, but she subconsciously felt that Darius must have also seen Henry and Hailey. There was no change in his expression nor emotions in his eyes, however.

The moment Candice met his gaze, a thought flashed through her mind. She asked Darius in a low voice, "Did you intentionally arrange to meet here because of that?"

Darius glanced at her. "Why would you say that?"

He showed no intention of refuting her words. After being scrutinized by Candice's probing gaze for a moment, he remained unruffled and proceeded calmly to the sixteenth floor.

She followed him without saying a word.

They arrived at a large private room. It was spacious, similar to the one Alex had booked last time, with expansive floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the scenery of the riverside.

Candice glanced at Darius for a moment before hearing him speak. "Do you know how old Hailey is?"

Candice looked up. Although Hailey had makeup on her face, she didn't seem very mature.

"If I remember correctly, she should be nineteen."

Candice's eyebrows furrowed imperceptibly. She knew Hailey was young, but she hadn't realized she was only nineteen.

A deep emotion flashed in her eyes, and she suppressed the discomfort. She asked Darius, "So, did you intentionally want me to see them together?"

He didn't deny it but continued. "Before her, there were countless Haileys."

"What exactly do you want to say—?" Candice maintained her composure, but as she listened to his indifferent words, her emotions surged layer by layer.

Darius calmly poured two glasses of water and then pushed one toward her.

He looked at her with eyes as deep as a cold pond, devoid of any emotion. A faint curve formed at the corner of his thin lips. "I know you and Alex are investigating me."

Candice's eyes shifted.

Darius's voice remained steady. "I erased Henry's traces. You can go back and tell him not to waste any more effort."

"Why are you telling me this?" Candice became more alert. Her back straightened, and her face remained calm, but she felt uneasy inside.

Although his topics all revolved around Henry, she knew this wasn't his intention.

As her words trailed off, Darius chuckled lightly, his tone casual, but his eyes were filled with disgust as he looked at the dazzling lights on the riverside outside.

"Do you want to know what's happening in the next private room?" He asked without answering, and at that moment, the disdain on his face overwhelmed the light in his eyes.

Candice had a bad feeling about this.

Darius, whose face bore some resemblance to hers, showed no expression at all. He directly placed his phone in front of her, and a video started playing on it.
