Henry's words successfully stopped Candice in her tracks.
She looked back at him. Her face icy and her eyes filled with unfathomable coldness.
Henry suddenly met her gaze and his heart tightened. He realized that he had blurted out his inner thoughts without restraint.
He adjusted his expression and suppressed his emotions, wanting to comfort Candice.
However, before he could speak, he heard her cold voice, "You came here to say these things because of Ava and Nina, right? You said I lack self-awareness and bring trouble upon myself. Then let me ask you, does Ava know you have a wife in Solaris? Does she know how shameless you are to the extent of planning to abandon your family again?"
Candice's tone was genuinely calm. It was obvious between what he had said, and her knowledge of his relationship with Ava the real reason why he came to find her.
He probably wanted to curry favor with Ava through this favor.
Candice's words tore away Henry's last scrap of his pretense. He was stunned for a moment before bursting into anger. "What nonsense are you talking about?"
Her gaze turned cold as she retorted, "You know exactly what I'm talking about. I'm just reminding you not to freeload too much and have some self-respect!"
After saying this, Candice turned and left.
Just as she took a few steps, she remembered something and looked back at Henry. She raised her chin slightly, looking down at him, and said, "And also, please tell Nina to stop meddling. Who she marries is her own business. I have no relationship with Alex, or the Elysian family."
After shaking off Henry, she went to the bank.
However, she didn't know if it was due to recent rushing around, but while waiting at the bank, she kept feeling like the little one in her belly was moving.
As luck would have it, the next day at the hospital she saw a bus with the Aether Corporation logo, probably a group coming for medical checkups.
Candice only glanced at it before withdrawing her gaze and went straight to the office of the doctor she had been seeing since she found out she was pregnant.
When she entered, the doctor was holding the report, his expression very serious. He even double-checked the information several times before hesitantly handing her the report.
"Ms. Renault, please be mentally prepared." The doctor paused and looked at Candice, saying, "Your test results are not ideal. The risk value is very high, and the fetus may be malformed."
Candice looked at the string of numbers on the report, all of them simple digits, but together, she couldn't read any of them.
The doctor continued. "For such a situation, the recommendation from our hospital is to abort the baby as soon as possible. Please consider when you have time to schedule the surgery sooner rather than later."
