My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s) novel Chapter 463

The study was quiet, and Alex's pitch black eyes seemed even colder. His gaze slowly fell on the examination report. Candice's name at the top was clearly visible.

In the living room, Helen was sitting with a glass of water. She was wearing an expensive silk nightgown, and had the air of a wealthy lady.

Seeing Alex come out, a slight smile appeared on her lips, but because of its shallow curvature, it gave a feeling of slight mockery.

She called out to Alex in a soft voice, casually placing down the glass, and asked in a leisurely tone, "Where are you going?"

Alex paused, turning to look at Helen.

She rarely asked him such questions. The mother-son relationship between them seemed to be only the blood flowing in their bones.

Alex glanced at her, and Helen's eyebrows moved slightly, revealing a hint of satisfaction in her eyes.

She asked him, "Did you see the examination results? It seems like you were surprised too. But now I'm even more glad. I'm glad I didn't agree to let her in back then. Carrying a malformed child, she might still have some hidden illnesses…"

Helen's words stopped halfway as she met Alex's obscure and unfathomable gaze.

He looked at Helen, his whole body exuding a cold and lonely aura. His black eyes enveloping a swirling storm, his voice low, "Why are you gloating?"

Helen looked at him, the smile on her face slowly freezing.

Candice didn't have much appetite all night, but after Hanley recommended a few doctor friends to her and she chatted with them for a while, she felt somewhat comforted.

Seeing her relax, Nadia came over. "The weather is nice tonight. Would you like to go out for a walk with me? Just breathe some fresh air."

Candice knew Nadia was trying to comfort her. She nodded and went out with her.

The air outside was still cold. Candice pulled her coat tighter and heard Nadia say, "Today I told Yana that she should go to the church to pray for Baby Mulberry's safety and health once she's back. Maybe I'll go tomorrow and pray for Baby Mulberry to be safe and healthy."

Candice turned to look at her, taking a few seconds to react to what Nadia was saying. "What happened to Yana?"

Nadia hesitated for a moment, but quickly grew angry. "Yana has completely accepted the engagement with Mason. As for the rest, she didn't tell me much. Anyway, I heard her voice this morning, and it didn't sound too good.

"But…" Nadia's tone changed again, and she smiled at Candice. "Everything will definitely be fine. When I went home, I showed our photos to my mom. My mom said both you and Yana have very lucky faces. My mom is very accurate in judging people, so rest assured, everything will be fine."

Looking at her sincere and smiling eyes, Candice pursed her lips and nodded. "Yeah, everything will be fine."

There was still a chance for a re-examination. Just to make sure.

Candice looked up at the dark blue sky, the shimmering light in her eyes which were filled with sincere hope.

When people were desperate, they always liked to place their hopes on elusive things. And she was no exception.

-

When the hospital called to notify her to come for a re-examination, Candice was still discussing the progress of a new project with Hanley and the others.

She glanced at her phone and calmly answered the call.

After a brief conversation confirming the time on the other end, she hung up.

Candice looked up at Hanley and said calmly, "I'll take a day off tomorrow and go to the hospital."
