The atmosphere was suddenly frozen under Katherine's vicious expression.

"Katherine, you must have misunderstood us," Ethan smiled apologetically, "Miss Wood is our guest, not a pianist."

Katherine sized Adriana up judgmentally, "Miss Wood? Who are you? Do we even know each other?"

Her words humiliated Adriana undoubtedly. 

The guests in the Louise Group's banquet were either noble or rich, but there were also some people who managed to sneak in to get to know the powerful and rich. 

The guests were all watching and gossiping about Adriana. 

"She wasn't invited, was she?"

"She's quite capable to hook up with Mr. Louise."

"Didn't you see Ms. Louise's expression? This woman didn't even manage to hook Ethan."

Adriana's face was as pale as paper. She didn't expect that she would fall into such a humiliating situation.

"Miss Wood," Suddenly, She heard Ted's voice.

Adriana's eyes lit up as if she'd grabbed onto her last hope. "Oh, Richard."

Richard walked over from the back of the crowd. He was dressed in a formal suit that was neatly ironed, and he was especially eye-catching in the crowd. 

"It's Mr. Zellweger!"

"Mr. Zellweger."

Adriana walked down the stage and hurried over to Richard, saying: "Richard, you're finally here."

"What's happened?" Richard frowned slightly. His voice sounded emotionless.

Before Adriana could say a word, Katherine directly asked Richard, "Mr. Zellweger, who is she?"

Just as Richard was about to introduce Adriana, his face suddenly darkened. 

In the crowd on the right, a graceful lady was pulling a young woman as they rushed over. 

Richard couldn't be more familiar with that young woman.

Why did she come here?

There were an eye contact for a while. 

Seeing Richard, Pearl was dazed for a moment. Then, she immediately walked straight to Ethan as if she had no idea who Richard was. She asked in a low voice, "What's going on here?"

Pearl'd been playing chess with Enrique and was surrounded by many elders of the Louise family. She had been taught chess by her father, Anthony, since she was young and had even won the National Chess Competition in middle school. 

Before they could finish their game, she was pulled away by Victoria in a hurry. As soon as they went downstairs, they saw such a hostile scene.

"Richard," Adriana anxiously grabbed Richard's arm, which made him come back to his senses. 

Ethan smiled, "Pearl and Miss Wood were best friends. Of course, she'd know Miss Wood's fiancé, right?"

As soon as he finished his words, the faces of Adriana and Richard turned a bit ugly.

Adriana was especially shocked when she heard Katherine called Pearl as her sister-in-law. Was it even possible?

How could she turn into Ethan's wife all of a sudden?

Moreover, Adriana could tell from Ethan's tone that he had already known her all this while. Was he fooling around with her all time?

Her face turned paler at the thought of this. 

"Well, Adriana'd never told me when Miss Yonng got married after studying abroad for seven years." Richard said as his eyes were as cold as ice. 

Now, Pearl was fully calmed down.

She hadn't expected Richard to bring Adriana over, as his mother was the only one invited to the banquet. Seeing how close Adriana was holding onto Richard's arm, she felt a stabbing pain in her eyes for a moment.

So he was having a good life in the past years even without her.

Pearl looked at Richard with a decent smile and gracefully said: "We got married abroad without any ceremonies."

Hearing this, Richard clenched his fists tightly.

Victoria had always been by Pearl's side, but she didn't feel anything wrong with the atmosphere. She smiled and said, "Although the ceremony wasn't held, Pearl is the daughter-in-law acknowledged by our whole family. We will definitely hold a wedding ceremony in the future. We'll invite you and Miss Adriana."

The words "daughter-in-law acknowledged by our whole family" pressed down on Richard's chest like a thousand-pound stone.
