Matthew wanted Lucy to forget about that day because it was too embarrassing.
“Lulu, let’s not dwell on the past, okay?”
"Matt, let me handle this.”
Lucy took the spatula but was met with strong resistance from Matthew.
“I said I’ll do it myself. What’s the point if you do it? I’ll just become your assistant.”
Lucy was pushed out by him, but she was still worried that he would hurt himself when cutting vegetables.
“Can’t I just assist you?”
Lucy rolled up her sleeves and started scooping up the vegetables in the sink. Matthew was a man of his word, so if she just acted first, perhaps he might give in.
Watching Lucy get busy, Matthew finally relented, though his actions were still a bit awkward.
“I wanted you to have a good rest, but I didn’t think that…”
He still messed up…
As if she had a telepathic connection with Matthew, she knew what he was about to say next. “It’s okay. I’m happy doing anything as long as I’m with you.”
Touched by Lucy’s words, the self-blame from earlier seemed to have disappeared.
…
Charlotte stared at her phone screen anxiously.
Suddenly, a text message popped up. It was from that person.
[There are many ways to frame someone, but judging by your performance, your clumsiness will only ruin your plans. Since you're good at lying to cover up your guilt, you can try the method I just taught you, but there’s nothing I can do to help because your clumsiness will get you exposed anyway. I suggest you just give up on this plan.]
