Chapter 987 Great Acting Skills
Rose didn't want this situation to continue any further. After all, they would have to talk about this topic sooner or later.
If they didn't clear the air regarding this topic, they couldn't proceed further – Rose knew this well. There was an implicit sequence to talk about matters. Even if the subject wasn't brought up, Elisa would point it out anyway.
Hence, Rose nudged Linda's leg under the table to remind her to stay calm.
If everything had been as smooth as before, Linda would have been able to play her part well. However, now that she had experienced so much, there was a massive change in her personality.
Even a minor setback was a major hurdle for her to get over with.
I have to talk to her when we get back, Rose thought.
She took a deep breath before saying thoughtfully, "Elisa, the contract is related to the success of the entire Benett family – perhaps you disagree with our actions there. Regarding your father, however, how could you say that?"
Elisa looked at her mockingly without saying a word. She wanted to hear how Rose would defend their actions.
The main reason she agreed to meet them wasn't about this. However, she had to go through this to get the information she wanted.
"Elisa, I know you're not feeling great right now. You must be even more resentful, thinking that we harmed your father. However, the recordings are all fake. We never said anything like that!" Rose lamented.
Norman also added in a low voice, "That's right. Your father is my younger brother. I wouldn't be here without his support back then. All these years, we have been staying at your place. Do you think of us as such ungrateful people? If we really did that to him, we would be worse than beasts!"
Everyone remained silent upon hearing that.
Huh. They are making such a fool of themselves, Vincent thought.
Is this a new tactic to put themselves down to sound convincing? Rachel wondered.
Charli brushed her fingers against the tip of her nose without thought.
Elisa's lips twitched into a smile that grew more sinister. They are getting better at this.
Rose nodded. "That's right, Elisa. I have no clue where you got those recordings and the drug from. What is going on?"
Rachel let out a cold snort. Rose is great at feigning innocence.
Elisa looked at them calmly. Clearly, she no longer wanted to talk about this topic.
She turned to look at Norman. "What did you want to tell me about my father?"
Since he used this excuse to lure me here, he has to say something about it. Otherwise, he will offend me even more.
There was a slight frown on Norman's face. It's not the right time to talk about that, he thought.
Staring squarely at Elisa, he replied, "Elisa, let's finish this topic first. I'll tell you about your father later."
With that, he was implying that if they didn't resolve this issue first, he would not tell Elisa what she wanted to hear, as though it was a valuable piece of information to her.
Rachel chuckled. "Are you using this to threaten Elisa, Mr. Benett? If she disagrees with you, you aren't going to tell her anything. Is that it?"
He was indeed threatening her, but when Rachel pointed it out directly, the atmosphere seemed to change entirely.
