No Chance of Remarriage Get Lost (Elisa) novel Chapter 988

Chapter 988 It&aposs Just to Lure You Here

Norman's expression immediately changed as he interjected, "Ms. Markee, that's not the case at all."

Rachel let out a loud huff. She wanted to mock them back, but upon second thought, she remained silent.

On the other hand, Charli ignored Norman and looked at Elisa gently. "Let the dead rest in peace. Sometimes, it's even more melancholy if we know too much. Why don't we give the matter a rest?"

Norman was thunderstruck when he heard that.

The fact that Elisa is willing to meet us shows how badly she wants to know the information – I'm not wrong on this. But if they convince her otherwise, things will look bad for me!

Sure enough, Elisa nodded. "You're right. If I know too much, I might be sadder and miss him even more."

There was a slight change of expression in Norman and his family. However, before they could speak, Charli smiled. "That's right. Just let things take their course and stop living in the past. I'm sure your dad would be happy to see you happy."

"That's right! Your dad would be upset if you're still miserable about the past. Let it go, Elisa. Apart from that, what if Mr. Benett lied to you just to lure you here?" She winked at Elisa to show how much she didn't want Elisa to know the truth.

Norman almost choked on his anger upon hearing that.

I was wrong – I shouldn't have asked for a meal with Elisa right after the trial ended. It's always better to talk things over in private. I should've asked her out alone or visited her. That's better than having these people around to distract her.

He slightly panicked as he asked, "Elisa, it's just a misunderstanding. How could we bring ourselves to hurt your father? Where did you get those recordings? A-And the drug? You…"

The frown on her face deepened. It was clear she was annoyed by Norman at this point.

"I don't have the time to listen to your bullsh*t. You'd better shut your mouth up," she retorted impatiently.

Norman froze momentarily. The anger he had been trying hard to hold back was on the brink of eruption.

He took a deep breath and replied, "We are unrelated to that. You can't wrongly accuse us just because you believe what other people tell you. Elisa, we are family, after all!"

Elisa's face darkened as she stared directly into his eyes. "This is your last chance – what were you going to tell me about my father?"

Both Norman and Linda were triggered by her attitude.

How rude of her! Norman thought.

That b*tch! I'm going to kill her sooner or later! Linda cursed internally.

Rose quickly cleared her throat to calm them down.

At that moment, someone knocked on the door – the dishes were ready to be served.

Several waiters and waitresses walked into the room together when the door opened. After placing the dishes on the table, one of them asked, "Everything is ready. Do you have any other requests?"

"We're good. You may leave." Rose had no intention of checking with the rest. After all, they weren't there for the food.

"Sure." With that, the waiter left the room and closed the door.
