Noelle executed a perfect over-the-shoulder throw, slamming Donovan to the ground. Her movements were fluid and seamless, leaving almost everyone stunned.
By the time Donovan hit the ground, his face was pale from pain.
Xenia rushed to his side. "Donovan, are you okay?"
Donovan coughed and waved her off, but it was clear he wasn't fine. Xenia looked at Noelle and questioned, "Noelle, how could you hit him?"
Noelle clapped her hands. "Didn't he start it first?"
She had been training in boxing for that moment. Xenia was momentarily speechless. "Donovan is your brother! You can't just do that! He could be seriously hurt."
The team leader couldn't help but chime in. "If Noelle didn't do anything, would she just stand there and take it?"
One of the more outspoken colleagues added, "Seriously, the one who started it is at fault! If this went to the police, Noelle's actions would count as self-defense!
"I think I finally get why she left her wealthy family to work. Anyone who didn't know might think Noelle was a maid here!"
Xenia stayed silent. All she could do was try to win Donovan's favor. He was her only support now.
Noelle looked at Donovan on the ground. "I'm not that helpless kid who just stands there and takes it anymore."
She wasn't the girl bound by financial struggles and family obligations anymore.
Donovan felt humiliated. Through gritted teeth, he hissed, "Noelle, you'll regret this!"
"I already regret it. I regret not realizing sooner!" Noelle retorted.
Just as she turned to leave, Lucas stepped in front of her. "I wanted to stop Xenia, but I got caught up in her words, too!"
"Caught up? I'm sure that's what you wanted!" Noelle snapped.
Lucas wanted her to fail so she would return to the Liddells. It was laughable that he still thought of himself as her brother.
