Chapter 467 If Zachary Knew
In the soft light of early morning, the sun's rays poured onto the pillow, gently waking Lenora from her sleep. She turned her gaze toward the other side of the large bed, where the sheets lay perfectly undisturbed, not a wrinkle in sight. As memories of yesterday flooded her mind, she instinctively caressed her abdomen.
I'm pregnant! I'm not dreaming.
The thought of the news brought a genuine joy to her face, radiating from deep within. Her lips curved into an effortless smile, and a spark of light danced in her eyes.
I bet Zachary will be overjoyed once he finds out! I can't wait to tell him!
After breakfast, however, Zachary still hadn't returned.
Assuming he had gone straight to the company from the Fuller residence, Lenora got into the car with Harrietta, holding her ultrasound report.
The driver first dropped Harrietta off at the kindergarten before heading to Fuller Tower with Lenora. Little did Lenora know, as soon as she left the kindergarten, someone arrived to pick up Harrietta.
At Fuller Group, the receptionist's face brightened with a warm smile as Lenora approached. “Ms. Wilkin, you're here to see Mr. Fuller, aren't you? Unfortunately, he's not in the office at the moment.”
Lenora was stunned. “Did he come and then leave, or did he not come at all?”
“He didn't come,” the receptionist answered.
Just a while ago, someone came looking for Zachary. The receptionist had called the director's office.
Lenora glanced at the time on her phone, a faint frown tugging at her brow. At this hour, unless there were special plans, it was unlike Zachary to not have arrived at the office yet.
She made her way to the corner of the hall and dialed his number.
After about ten seconds of ringing, the call connected.
Zachary's deep voice resonated from the other end. “Hello, Nora?”
Lenora asked right away, “Where are you right now?”
There was a brief pause before he replied, “At the office. What do you need?”
Lenora raised an eyebrow, sneering inwardly. Good. He's learned to lie to my face. I swear I'll give him a piece of my mind when I see him later!
“It's nothing important. We can talk about it when you return,” she said.
He said hesitantly after a pause, “Nora, I might have to go on a business trip soon. If you need anything, just call Miles.”
“All right. You go ahead with your work,” Lenora said coldly, ending the call. Without missing a beat, she dialed Miles' number.
As soon as the call connected, Lenora didn't give Miles a chance to speak. “Zachary just told me he's going on a business trip soon.”
Miles paused for a moment and eventually responded, “Yes.”
“Is he going to Acocester or Sparaville?” Lenora asked.
Miles hesitated before choosing one at random. “Sparaville.”
“Are you sure?”
Lenora's tone carried a subtle edge, and Miles quickly picked up on it. “Ah, my mistake. It's Acocester.”
“But he just told me he was heading to Bloudence. Mr. Lancaster, you've been sloppy at work lately. Have you found another job? If you no longer wish to stay with Fuller Group, I can speak to Zachary for you.”
