Chapter 481 How Do You Know He Is Not Good
Isla abruptly stood up, looking at Zephyr in disbelief.
“If you still consider me as your brother, heed my words and return to Fairlake tomorrow!” Zephyr said, looking up at her from his seat on the couch.
“I'm not going back!” Isla huffed in annoyance, sinking back into the corner of the couch. “If you want to go back, you should do it yourself!”
“Zachary is not a good man. Even if you two have a child, he won't stay with you.”
Zachary had previously been embroiled in a cheating scandal and was now he was dealing with a complicated situation with his ex-wife. Any parent who truly loved their daughter wouldn't choose him.
“How do you know he's not a good man? How can you be sure he won't be with me? We even had lunch together today!”
Faced with Isla's stubbornness, Zephyr felt a pang of frustration. He scoffed coldly and said, “You weren't dining alone. Harrietta was there too, wasn't she?”
At such a crucial moment, Zachary would never dine alone with Isla unless he truly intended to break up with Lenora.
“Yes... She is our child after all,” Isla stuttered upon being exposed. “Doesn't the three of us dining together like a family perfectly illustrate his intentions?”
Zephyr glanced at Isla, falling into a moment of silence.
Is she truly my sister, born of the same parents? Why is she so stupid?
The act of dining together was a common occurrence among people of various relationships, such as friends, colleagues, classmates, clients, and so on. Even strangers could find themselves sharing a meal.
Thus, in a romantic relationship, having a meal together didn't mean anything.
Isla's use of their shared meal to illustrate Zachary's attitude highlighted two issues. First, Zachary had never dined with her before. Second, there wasn't an iota of feelings between her and Zachary. Otherwise, she wouldn't resort to using their meal as an argument.
This time, Zachary had agreed to share a meal with her and their child, likely because she was the mother of his child.
Seeing the doubt in Zephyr's eyes, Isla couldn't help but try to convince him. “You have to believe me. He even said today that he won't remarry Fay! Zack, he won't remarry Fay!”
Isla had already cast aside her promise to Alice, focusing solely on convincing Zephyr, making a point to emphasize the fact.
She assumed that Zephyr would be very pleased to hear the news.
Yet, Zephyr merely blinked, his expression unchanging. “So what?” he said. “Just because they're not getting married doesn't mean they can't be together. You need to stop being so stubborn!”
What does Zachary's decision to remarry Lenora have anything to do with me?
Isla's expression froze.
Does he love Fay so much that he would rather step back and watch her get together with Zachary?
“Zephyr, shouldn't you be happy that they're not getting back together?” she probed.
“I wish they would just remarry, so you can stop clinging on to your fantasies.”
Zephyr stood up, looking down at Isla. “If you're fond of that child, I'll find a way to help you fight for custody and bring her back to Fairlake. As for anything else, there's no room for discussion.”
“Zephyr, I'm not going back no matter what!”
With that, the siblings parted on bad terms.
“What did Caesare tell you?”
In Isla's room, Alice noticed her sitting dejectedly by the bed and approached her with concern.
“He knew about Harrietta, yet he firmly disapproves of me being with Zachary. He wants me to return to Fairlake tomorrow.”
“Why?”
“Who knows?” Isla rolled her eyes in exasperation. “Maybe he's utterly devoted to Fay and is willing to give up everything just to make her happy.”
Alice cast her gaze downward. “She indeed poses a threat, but now is not the time to deal with her. What's your plan now?”
“No matter that, I'm not going back.”
“What if he tells your parents and they ask you to go back?”
