No Remarriage for us Stay Away (Lenora and Zachary) novel Chapter 486

Chapter 486 My Fault
Upon arriving at the hospital, Lenora collected the medical form from the doctor. She then proceeded to have a fetal heart rate monitoring, an ultrasound, and a Down syndrome screening.

Zachary took the medical form from Lenora's hand and glanced at it, raising an eyebrow. “Sixteen weeks?”

“Yes.” Lenora maintained a calm expression.

It seemed that Zachary, like her, also believed that the child was conceived during their time in Fairlake.

Zachary silently calculated the time. Four months ago, isn't that when...

Their eyes met, and Lenora could vaguely discern a hint of pride in his gaze. Feeling a flush creep up her cheeks, she pinched him hard on the waist and averted her gaze, muttering, “You think you're so great.”

Zachary gave a slight smile, wrapping his arm around her waist. He leaned in, whispering something into her ear.

A blush crept up on Lenora's cheeks, and a mix of embarrassment and annoyance flashed in her eyes as she glared at him. Her eyes sparkled, filled with an effulgent light. She covered her belly as if afraid the child inside might hear. “You dare to say that again?”

“I won't say any more.”

Zachary appeared to be scared of her, shutting his mouth. Yet, the corners of his eyes and brows held a teasing smirk, revealing his deep affection for her adorable, feisty anger.

Had they not been in a hospital, he would have likely succumbed to the urge to kiss her slightly upturned, rosy lips.

Without a backward glance, Lenora walked away, not caring whether Zachary chose to follow or not. It's better if he doesn't follow me. He is completely preoccupied with that particular matter.

Zachary strode quickly to catch up with her, taking hold of her hand.

Once outside the examination room, Lenora found a spot to sit down, waiting for her number to be called.

Zachary took a seat beside her, gripping her hand and gently toyed with it in his palm.

Upon a certain thought, he leaned in slightly, expressing his relief in a low voice, saying, “Thank goodness he's well-built...”

“Hmm?”

“We really had our fair share of fun back in Fairlake...”

Lenora gave him an annoyed glance and murmured, “I had some bleeding that time, and I thought it was just an irregular period...”

“I'm sorry. It's my fault for not knowing my limits.”

Zachary found himself thinking back to the times when he used to tease her. Back then, he didn't know she was already carrying their child.

Fortunately, nothing went wrong. Otherwise, it would be too late for regrets.

“That's enough.”

Zachary looked at her little ears, red as if they were bleeding, and with a slight smile on his lips, he said, “All right. Don't be angry. I won't say anymore.”

By the time Lenora finished her prenatal checkup, it was already the afternoon.

The first two tests showed that the child in Lenora's womb was normal, and the risk was extremely low in the Down syndrome screening.

After leaving the hospital, the two of them went to have lunch together.

During dinner, Zachary casually said, “I know you're fond of photography, but don't overwork yourself. Perhaps take on less work for a while.”

Lenora had set up her own studio, under which she hired an assistant. Zachary had also assigned her two bodyguards.

The previous week, she was in charge of a photoshoot for a long-standing client's advertisement.

“There's not much to worry about for now. As the child grows, I'll reduce my workload,” she responded in a calm and indifferent tone. “By the way, I have to go on a business trip tomorrow.”

Zachary paused, lifting his head. “Where to?”

“Jeahron.”

Zachary raised an eyebrow.

“It's a magazine shoot,” Lenora stated calmly. It wasn't a negotiation but a statement.

Zachary knew he couldn't stop it, so he said, “Let Flynn and the other one accompany you.”

Flynn Latham was one of those two bodyguards.

“Okay.”

On Tuesday morning, Lenora, her assistant, and her bodyguards boarded a plane headed for Jeahron.

The magazine publisher had sent someone to pick them up from the airport and escorted them to their pre-booked hotel.

The one who picked them up from the airport was the magazine publisher's secretary, a young lady. Before leaving, she instructed Lenora to be at Melody Garden Restaurant by seven in the evening. The editor-in-chief had arranged for her and the model to have dinner together, as a chance for them to get acquainted first.

He only realized in hindsight that Zachary's breakup with Lenora was merely a charade he put on before declaring war on the White family.

Once the show was over, he immediately went to make amends with Lenora.

“You could say so.”

Ezekiel glanced at Brian and the model before saying, “Since you're back, why didn't you get in touch with me and invite me out for a meal? If I hadn't come looking for you this time you were in Jeahron, would you have just forgotten about me?”

“How could I? I just arrived today and planned to contact you after I finished my work,” Lenora said, not even believing her words herself.

Brian glanced at the two, a flicker of deep thought passing through his eyes. He sensed a significant connection between them.

As the dishes were being served, Lenora noticed the server bringing two bottles of wine. She called out to the man, saying, “Get me a bottle of juice instead.”

Once the server had left, Lenora turned to Ezekiel and Brian with a smile. “I've been having some stomach discomfort lately, so it's not suitable for me to drink alcohol. I'll just substitute it with juice.”

“Your health is what matters,” Brian said with a laugh.

The meal had been rather enjoyable. However, midway through, Brian received a phone call. He mentioned that an urgent matter had come up, so he had to leave early.

Not long after Brian left, the model also expressed a desire to leave.

Within the private room, only Lenora and Ezekiel were left.

Just moments ago, Ezekiel had shared a few drinks with Brian. His gaze was slightly tipsy, his eyes hazy, and his face tinged with a faint blush.

Lenora said, “Ezekiel, shall we head back too?”

With that, she went to grab the bag that was by the table.

Suddenly, Ezekiel seized her wrist.

His hands were rough and blazing hot, the veins on the back of his hand protruding prominently, forming a stark contrast against her delicate, fair skin.

Lenora tried to pull away, but she couldn't. His grip only tightened.

Unease settled in Lenora's heart. She glanced at him and uttered, “Ezekiel...”

Ezekiel let go of his grip, leaning back into his chair as he looked at her. Under the influence of alcohol, he dared to ask, “D-Do you dislike me now?”
