No Remarriage for Us: Stay Away
Chapter 501 Dodge A Bullet
“This is a long story. Where are you now?”

“On the way to the police station.”

“I'll go there too,” Lenora said.

“All right, we'll talk when we meet.”

After ending the call, Sophia placed her phone into the armrest compartment next to her.

At the police station, after taking down the statements from Sophia and Zephyr, the police officer turned to Zephyr and asked, “All right, explain how you managed to locate the flour mill.”

Zephyr recounted the events truthfully.

“Lenora Wilkin? Is she a friend of yours?”

“Yes.”

“How did she find out?”

“I'm not sure. She'll be coming over later. You can ask her then.”

The police officer glanced at his partner's computer records and gave a nod. “Next question, who is Isla?”

“Isla's full name is Isla Wilson. She is Matthew Xenos' niece,” Sophia replied softly.

The police officer took a sip of water and asked almost instinctively, “Who's Matthew Xenos?”

Sophia remained silent, raising her index finger and pointing toward the ceiling.

The police officer understood instantly, almost choking in surprise. He coughed a few times before asking, “Does she have any grudge against you, Ms. Tortell?”

“Not really, but there were plenty of scores to settle...”

Sophia began to recount to the police officer, piece by piece, the friction between her and Isla—from Sloummont to Jacaster.

“Surely, it's because of that time when Nora and I smashed her car. She wanted to retaliate but couldn't find the right opportunity to target Nora, so she had no choice but to come after me.”

As the police officer listened, he couldn't help but let his mind wander.

Once Sophia finished speaking, he rose to his feet. “You two wait here for a bit. I need to step out for a moment.”

After he left, the police officer who was taking records also departed.

In the interrogation room, only Sophia and Zephyr were left.

She whispered to Zephyr, “They must have gone to their leader.”

“Yeah, I'm going to make a phone call.”

“Okay.”

Zephyr dialed the number of Matthew's secretary.

The secretary handed the phone over to Matthew.

He briefly explained the situation in a few sentences, stating that he intended to teach Isla a lesson.

Otherwise, she would continue to be ignorant, acting recklessly without any consideration.

Matthew did not object.

When the call from the leader of the police station came through, he relayed the solution that Zephy had just proposed.

The leader understood Matthew's intentions. Turning to his subordinates, he instructed, “Proceed as usual and bring her in. Let her learn a lesson in the detention center.”

The subordinate nodded. “Understood.”

The police officer returned and enlisted the help of three colleagues to apprehend the suspected criminal.

To located the suspect, Zephyr made a phone call to Isla.

Upon receiving the news of the plan's failure, Isla was filled with fear, already having returned to Matthew's home.

When she saw the incoming call from Zephyr, her face turned pale. Her hand trembled slightly, almost causing her phone to slip onto the ground.

It wasn't until the call was nearly dropped automatically that she mustered the courage to answer. Struggling to steady her trembling voice, she said, “Zephyr?”

“Have you eaten yet? I'm bringing dinner home. Do you want me to get yours too?”

Upon hearing this, Isla couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. “No thanks, I've already eaten.”

“Don't be nervous,” Alice advised her.

Zephyr stepped into the living room, his gaze falling upon the two individuals.

“Zephyr, you're back?” Isla smiled, greeting him as she usually did.

Zephyr remained silent, his gaze profound and penetrating, as he steadily moved closer to Isla.

Isla was already feeling guilty, and now under his intense gaze, her heart started to pound in her chest. She felt a chill run down her spine, causing goosebumps to rise all over her body. Unable to control herself, she stood up and took two fearful steps back. “Z-Zephyr, what's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?”

A loud slap reverberated through the living room.

Isla covered her cheek, her mind blank for a few seconds. She lifted her head and looked at Zephyr in disbelief. “Zephyr, did you just hit me?”

Alice was also taken aback.

It seems that he already knows.

Zephyr looked at Isla coldly. “Considering all the shady things you've done, you'd be sentenced for years. What's a single slap in comparison?”

The memory of the scene he had witnessed at the flour mill made his gaze grow increasingly cold.

If Lenora hadn't noticed in time that Sophia was in trouble, and if he hadn't arrived promptly, he couldn't bear to think about what might have happened to her.

Isla's fury and frustration were palpable, her eyes blazing red. “How dare you hit me? I'll tell Dad right now, and he'll throw you out of the Wilson family!”

“Before you tell him, go to the police station for an investigation first.”

Three uniformed police officers barged in from outside. Without a word, they advanced and apprehended Isla.

Isla froze for a moment, flustered and frantic, but she clung to her fierce resolve. She shouted sharply, “Let go of me! Do you know who I am? Do you know whose house this is? My uncle is Matthew Xenos! Release me, or you'll regret this!”

Alice didn't dare utter a single word, trying her hardest to make herself invisible.

The police officer swiftly handcuffed her, his voice stern as he barked, “Matthew Xenos? Even if you were the king's own child, it wouldn't matter. Take her away! If she screams again, gag her!”

The police officers had arrived, fully aware that this was Matthew's residence, yet they still entered and apprehended her.

Isla's hope was instantly extinguished. Clinging to her last lifeline, she cried out to Zephyr, “Zephyr, I was wrong, I was wrong! Please save me! I don't want to go to jail!”
