No Remarriage for us Stay Away (Lenora and Zachary) novel Chapter 503

Chapter 503 A Significant Threat
“Oh.” Sophia took another look at Jasmine's retreating figure. “So, it's her. She's all dressed up. What on earth is she doing at the police station?”

“Could it be for Summer?” Lenora speculated. “The verdict for Summer was just handed down. She must be here to arrange for Summer's non-custodial sentencing.”

Summer's pregnancy allowed her to serve her sentence outside of prison. This likely gave Jasmine a different perspective and prevented her from continuing to bother Lenora.

“Non-custodial sentencing? Why?”

“She's pregnant.”

Sophia's lips twitched. “Well, well, whose child is it?”

“I don't know.”

The two of them chatted as they exited the police station.

“Do you need a ride?” Zephyr trailed behind them.

“No thanks, the driver dropped me off,” Lenora said, turning around.

Zephyr fell silent, escorting the two of them to the car.

Before getting into the car, Sophia glanced at Zephyr. After a moment of thought, she asked, “When will you be free tomorrow? I'd like to treat you to a meal.”

“Either noon or night works.”

“Then we'll talk about it later.”

“Okay.”

After watching Lenora's car drive away, Zephyr returned to the police station.

Upon reading Lenora's statement, he was shocked to discover that Isla had actually pushed Harrietta, which had led to Harrietta's car accident.

Zephyr deeply furrowed his brows.

Even the most vicious animal protects and cares for its children.

Isla's actions against her own daughter show she's even more unhinged than I thought.

I cannot allow her to stay in Jacaster any longer.

But what does it have to do with Zachary?

Why did Isla hold him back?

He waited outside for a few moments before receiving Alice's statements.

Alice revealed that when Isla discovered Lenora's pregnancy, she felt a significant threat. Isla wanted to confront Lenora but was thwarted by the two bodyguards always by her side. With no other options, she resorted to kidnapping Sophia, using her as leverage to force Lenora to come forward.

Alice tried to persuade Isla to stop, but she was unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, throughout the intense police interrogation, Isla remained unfazed and silent. The only words she uttered were, “Bring Zephyr to see me.”

The young police officer stepped out of the interrogation room, looking pale and rubbing his throbbing temples. He needed a moment to cool off.

By a stroke of fate, he found himself on duty that day, faced with managing such a challenging situation.

Zephyr walked over and asked, “Is she refusing to confess?”

The police officer started venting his frustrations. “She wouldn't say a word, and there was nothing I could do to make her talk. Oh, and she mentioned she wants to see you.”

“Leave her alone for the night. I'll see her tomorrow,” Zephyr said. “There's no need to get into a confrontation with her. Just continue with your usual tasks.”

“All right then.”

The police officer had been informed that handling Isla's case in the usual way was impossible. So, he chose to follow Zephyr's advice and postponed deciding how to deal with it until the next day.

Inside the interrogation room, Isla leaned back against the chair. Her face was tense, her gaze lowered, and she remained motionless.

She waited for what seemed like forever, yet there was no sign of Zephyr entering.

Inside the perfectly square little room, she was all alone.

The soundproofing was excellent, creating an eeriness in the room due to its extreme quietness.

Isla felt a chill run down her spine, becoming somewhat fearful.

Is Zephyr really planning to abandon me here?

“Is anyone there?”
