Chapter 522 Forced Marriage
In the director's office of Fuller Group, the secretary's internal line rang through. “Mr. Fuller, Mr. Wilson has arrived in the reception room. Are you free now?”
Zachary glanced at his wristwatch and the schedule beside him, nonchalantly stating, “I have a meeting in ten minutes. Let him wait.”
“All right.”
After hanging up the phone, the secretary brewed two cups of coffee. With a professional smile on her face, she walked into the reception room, placing the coffee unhurriedly before Bjorn and Avril. In fluent Uprian, she said, “Mr. Wilson, please enjoy your coffee. Mr. Fuller is in a meeting. Please wait here for a moment.”
Bjorn casually glanced at the coffee on the table, maintaining a calm demeanor. Hmph! You little rascal.
Avril then said sarcastically, “It's quite something that Mr. Charlton, as busy as he is, still manages to find time to meet us.”
The secretary continued to smile, feigning ignorance. “I'll step out now. If you two need anything, just call for me.”
Avril asked, “How much longer will the meeting last?”
“I'm not certain about that, but once the meeting concludes, Mr. Fuller will surely come to meet the two of you immediately.”
Avril wanted to say something more, but Bjorn waved at the secretary. “Leave us.”
The secretary, feeling as though pardoned, quickly stepped out of the reception room.
Avril voiced his frustration, saying, “Sir, he's definitely leaving us hanging on purpose. Why are we still sitting here?”
Zachary dared to disregard them so blatantly because they were in Jacaster.
Avril thought Zachary was merely kicking them when they were down.
If it had been in Fairlake, had Zachary dared to act this way, he would have shown him a thing or two.
Bjorn was unperturbed. He took a sip of his coffee and said, “That's exactly the reaction he's aiming for. If you really leave like this, you'll be playing right into his hands.”
Bjorn was there for Carol's sake.
Zachary was well aware that he had come for Carol, expressing his stance in this manner. He was saying that he wouldn't agree to let Harrietta return to Fairlake with him.
If Bjorn were to leave just like that, it would be equivalent to forfeiting the opportunity to negotiate.
“In my opinion, we shouldn't have sent Ms. Carol back yesterday. Instead, we should've sent her straight to the airport. What could Charlton do then?”
“Do you think I haven't considered that? Carol and Isla don't share a mother-daughter bond. Carol relies more on her father, Charlton. If we forcefully take her away, she will resent us. I hope Carol can truly accept Meredith and me,” Bjorn replied.
Moreover, if he were to secretly take Carol away, Zachary could also use the same method to take her back.
Amid the constant tug of war, only Carol would end up getting hurt.
“So, are we just going to sit here and wait?”
“Patience.”
Bjorn was calm and composed, casually picking up a magazine to flip through. “You still need more practice.”
Avril scratched the back of his head, silently taking a sip of his coffee.
“By the way, has Caesare been informed yet?”
“I've already informed him.” Avril rose from his seat and moved toward the window. “I'll make another call to check.”
He dialed a number, had a brief exchange, and then returned to his seat on the couch. “They said that Caesare has already taken the girl away,” he reported.
“Okay.” Bjorn nodded, leaning back and closing his eyes to rest.
The duo waited.
Avril glanced at his watch, his heart filled with frustration.
Twenty minutes later, the secretary walked in, holding a tray. She took away the two cups of coffee, then returned with them freshly brewed.
“Enjoy your coffee,” she said.
“How much longer will Mr. Fuller's meeting last?” Avril couldn't help but ask.
The secretary offered a small smile. “It should be soon now. Please wait a bit longer. Once the meeting concludes, Mr. Fuller will be right over.”
Her words seemed redundant.
