Not Your Doormat Anymore novel Chapter 29

Casey's actions left Kourtney at a loss for words. She couldn't even describe how she felt, but the look she gave me was filled with sympathy.

"It's all in the past. But she holds grudges. Be careful when you go out, just in case."

After reminding Kourtney, I ended up running into Casey again not long after.

I had already blocked all her contact info, but that didn't stop her from reaching out to my friends, trying to get them to pass messages or find out where I was.

Luckily, I had already told them everything—that she cheated first—and they believed me. No one was willing to help her.

She even went to my family's house, only to find we had moved. I had also warned the apartment management to keep her out.

With nowhere else to turn, she ended up registering at the hospital under my schedule.

I was still seeing patients when she walked into my office. The moment I saw her, I frowned.

Before, it would have taken tens of thousands of dollars in gifts just to get her to show up. But now that I no longer liked her, she kept showing up uninvited, more frequently than when we were actually together.

Watching her change up her tactics every time, trying to seduce me or reminisce about the "good old days", I felt absolutely nothing.

"This is a hospital," I said coldly. "Don't you feel ashamed of acting like this here? Casey, just seeing you makes me sick."

Her hand, which had been reaching for the buttons on her shirt, froze in midair. She looked at me with wounded eyes, her voice trembling. "Jace, how can you say that to me? I… I just want you to forgive me!"
