“Screech-”

The chair scraped across the floor with a piercing sound.

Felicia suddenly stood up. “Gone? How could she be gone?!”

The nurse explained softly that she had taken Abigail to the garden to enjoy the sunshine. She had folded a paper airplane, which was blown into the treetops by the wind. While she was reaching for the paper airplane, Abigail had disappeared.

Felicia forced herself to calm down. “Abby is well–behaved and wouldn’t run off. Have you checked the surveillance?”

“We checked, but the cameras in the garden were broken. We’re still checking the others.”

Felicia’s heart pounded uncontrollably.

She had searched almost every corner of the hospital, but there was no sign of Abigail.

Her anxiety grew heavier and stronger.

She rushed outside, only to bump into a firm chest.

Felicia looked up. In that instant, her panic and unease seemed to find a place to go, and she no longer pretended to be calm.

“Gideon…” Her voice trembled uncontrollably.

She grabbed Gideon’s clothes. “Abby is missing!”

Gideon’s expression changed as he pulled her into his arms. “Don’t panic, I’m here.”

He quickly ordered people to conduct a thorough search of the entire hospital, but there was still no trace of Abigail.

As they walked down the corridor, a cart covered with a white sheet passed by.

Felicia couldn’t help but look over.

A breeze lifted a corner of the sheet, revealing a pale, lifeless little face on the cart.

She froze in place, blocking the nurse’s path.

288 Youth

“Dr. Delgado, this is the patient who died after a failed surgery this morning, being sent to the morgue.”

Felicia stared at Timothy’s face, recalling the quiet and polite child who had come for a consultation alone that day. She spoke stiffly, “Wasn’t the bone marrow a match?”

The nurse sighed with regret. “The surgery had already started, but the hematopoietic stem cells for the bone marrow transplant never arrived. I heard they were taken by someone claiming to be the biological father, who said he wanted revenge on the child’s mother for remarrying with the child… What a tragedy.”

Gideon covered the child again with the sheet that had been lifted by the wind, but his expression grew thoughtful.

In an instant, the two exchanged glances.

The same thought was clear without words–Whitney!

“Timothy is dead, but she’s not here!”

Felicia’s heart clenched tightly.

Gideon calmly ordered someone to check the surveillance footage for Whitney.

Sure enough, they found footage of her driving away from the hospital with Abigail.

They tracked her and discovered that Whitney had taken Abigail back home.

Before they arrived, Whitney called.

“I want to kill your daughter to avenge my son. I’m at home, your home from five years ago, remember? I’m waiting for you to come and watch your daughter die with your own eyes!”

Whitney’s tone was intense, clearly already deranged.

Felicia took two deep breaths before her voice stopped trembling. “Don’t get agitated. Where is

Joshua?”

“Joshua, Joshua… heh…”
