Third Person’s POV
Paisley blinked in surprise.

You suspect Eleanor? How is that even possible? Setting aside the fact that she’s already dead, even when she was alive, she was
pletely bedridden. How could it be her?”
de began breaking down the logic layer by layer.
ture this: if you were Sabrina…”
llshit. I am not.”
Fine.”
Adelaide nodded deadpan.
“Let’s pivot. Imagine Avery is Sabrina. He joins the pack and pisses off Wanda. Wouldn’t he want to find a powerful faction to lean on for protection?”
“Can you just use Sabrina’s actual name? I don’t want to get the urge to punch Avery every time I look at him.”
Paisley tilted her head, thinking it through before cooling down to analyze.
“But you do have a point. Still, hadn’t Sabrina already secured Wanda’s trust?”
“That didn’t mean anything,” Adelaide said flatly.
“Wanda was constantly bullying her, and Rowena and Winslow completely ignored her. Her only real option was to lean on Eleanor, who actually ran the pack affairs. Of course, this is just a theory. could be wrong.”
Paisley hopped on the train of thought instantly.
“Actually, no. Your theory makes perfect sense. Following that logic, Sabrina and Eleanor were already in cahoots. So the second Wanda ordered her to spike the soup, Sabrina immediately tipped Eleanor off.”
Adelaide nodded.
“Eleanor knew she was running out of time. Winslow was heavily favoring Scarlett, and Scarlett was pregnant. Eleanor had to play the long game for her own children’s future.”
Then, Adelaide shook her head, feeling a sudden pang of guilt for making such dark assumptions about Eleanor without a shred of concrete evidence.
“I’ve already got Wendy staying on the investigation. Let’s just wait until we have more puzzle pieces”

Paisley let out a giggle, instantly leaning in to wrap her arms around Adelaide affectionately.
“I’m done doing that, promise.
Once they returned to the Blackthorn estate, Ralph was already back with his report.

His findings mapped identically onto Wanda’s confession: Wanda had definitely screamed at and roughed up a handful of omegas in the pack.
The mistreatment was real, and it happened a fair amount. Meanwhile, Eleanor had a flawless reputation inside the pack.
Wendy hadn’t come up with anything more substantial on her end either.
In other words, outside of those few omegas claiming they were abused and vowing to get revenge, the rest of the pack members weren’t talking about the incident at all.
Those specific omegas looked more like targeted plants sent to systematically destroy Wanda’s reputation.
“Oh, right,” Wendy said, remembering something.
“I didn’t turn up any new leads directly inside the Glenveil Pack, but I accidentally tracked the origin of the current smear campaign. The rumors all started spreading from a handful of articles written by young Alphas bashing the Center.”
“Did you run a background check on these Alphas?” Paisley asked.
Wendy nodded. “Yeah. They’re all students of Stanley Wall.”
“Stanley Wall?” Paisley knit her brows, the name sounding completely unfamiliar.
“Of the Wall family. Lycan Luna Camilla’s father.”
“Ah, him,” Paisley’s wolf let out a low, angry growl. “Why the hell is he getting his hands dirty with this?”
Adelaide, however, wasn’t surprised for a second.
She let out a quiet sigh, as if she had anticipated this all along.
“Because… technically speaking, fighting for the welfare of she–wolves is a job that should have belonged to Lycan Luna Camilla.
“But Lycan Luna Camilla hasn’t done a damn thing! Besides, this whole project is drawing nothing but heat right now, what glory is she trying to steal?”
“The heat is only temporary,” Adelaide said, taking a slow sip of her coffee.
“Stanley sees the big picture. He knows that sooner or later, the Center will win over the hearts and minds of the commoners. When that day comes, my position as Gamma Adelaide will completely eclipse Lycan Luna Camilla’s glory.”
Wendy chimed in. “Exactly. Originally, the Lycan Luna didn’t have to do any charity work, but now that Luna Adelskie hat established this non–profit, it makes Lycan Luna Camilla look bad by comparison
Paisley let out a cold snort.
“Then why doesn’t she just publicly back us up?”

She can’t support us now,” Adelaide said, shaking her head. “Not while the entire capital is screaming at us.”
“What a total pain in the ass,” Paisley said, slumping back into her chair with a heavy thud. “She doesn’t want to do the work, but she won’t let anyone else do it either.”
Now, she finally understood that Adelaide’s caution from before was completely justified.
When it came to Wanda, throwing her out or letting her stay didn’t matter; as long as the truth was buried, any decision they made would be twisted into a weapon by their enemies.
Adelaide looked up.
“Wendy, keep a laser focus on Eleanor’s circle and the omegas closest to her.”
“Yes, ma’am,” Wendy said, taking her cue and heading out.
Paisley stared up at the ceiling, quiet for a long time before she finally spoke.

“If Eleanor actually orchestrated this entire chessboard on her deathbed, I have to give it to her–that’s impressive.”
“Don’t get too cynical yet, it’s all just a theory. No matter what the truth is, we need to run a complete investigation to the end. What about the Wall family? How do we handle them?”
“Tomorrow is the weekend. I’ll have Lance pay a visit to the Styxwarden Pack. With people like that, a subtle hint is more than enough.”
Paisley turned her head to look at her. “Won’t he just deny everything?”
“We aren’t going to accuse him openly anyway,” Adelaide said with a knowing smile. “Just having Lance walk through his front door will be enough to let Stanley know we see his hand.”
