A Life Beyond Limits (Jack Holland) novel Chapter 916

"Hmph! It's just a game. What's the big deal?" Wilhelmina sneered. However, deep down, she had already decided never to play "World Empire" again.

She suddenly realized that no matter how hard she tried, she could never reach the level that Jack had attained. And she couldn't accept the fact that in some areas, she was outdone by someone she despised.

Nelson had a dark look on his face. He was feeling infuriated to see the Dream Squad he had high hopes for get humiliated.

As the crowd in the gaming cafe clapped for Jack, Nelson lost the courage to challenge him. He sighed and turned to Wilhelmina.

"Forget it. This game is pointless. Let's go play billiards in the next room."

With that, he casually placed his hand on Wilhelmina's shoulder, a move that made others wonder about their relationship. Were they close friends—or something more?

Jack narrowed his eyes. Despite his constant tension with Wilhelmina, the fact was, she was still, on paper, his fiancée—at least until their engagement, arranged by their families, was officially annulled.

Yet, his fiancée was being affectionate with another man in front of him. Wouldn't Jack be humiliated?

As Wilhelmina walked forward, she felt Jack's piercing gaze on her and instinctively turned around. She froze for a moment, then quickly turned back.

She didn't know why, but there was something unnerving about the way Jack was looking at her. It caused an inexplicable panic in her chest. Without thinking, she subtly pulled her arm away from Nelson's.

Shortly after, Wilhelmina began to wonder why she was even afraid of Jack's gaze. Was she really that weak?

How could Neil believe Jack's nonsense?

If Jack had only been skilled in one thing, maybe he could have gotten away with saying he was just secretly practicing. But Jack didn't just master one thing.

"World Empire" had only been out for a short time, and Jack was already leagues ahead of everyone else. Then, there was the time he had played "Skybound Wars", where he made even the top players cry.

Jack was also a basketball legend at Alnewgo University. In billiards, he defeated everyone effortlessly. In street brawls, he could make his opponents kneel and beg for mercy.

And if that wasn't enough, he had also managed to score the highest marks in the entire state. There were also his ruthless ways of dealing with small-time thugs. Was this even something a regular person could do?
